when you hear people say rap or hip-hop is a black artform, what that means is (well...to me) is that its not black-only, or only for black people. all it means is that it is an artform founded & created by black people (which it is. fact.). but it doesnt mean that other races arent equal within it or anything.

Damn, you hit the nail right on the head. I kind of saddened by the fact that he just dismisses his whole past, which is what made him who he is today. If he never was a confused white kid trying to be black or whatever the fuck he calls it then where would he be today. I love the old cage rocking the north face with the fronts and having an L in his mouth. I do understand him though, he has to eat to and these wack ass kids are buyin his shit so why not.

He never said fuck you go away. He said fans of Movies probably won't like his newer shit. I'm not going to spout some shit about how you have to like his newer stuff, but don't think he's abandoned you. He's just changed his life and it reflects through his music.

I appreciated what he said about perpetuating black stereotypes, he's being himself now and I like that
I also think that a lot of people feel like he's turned his back on hip hop, but i think that he just knows his audience, it just happens that the majority of his audience are hardcore kids, he just makes music they like. Hip hop fans have to realize that this music is no longer exclusive, everyone listens to hip hop now, even people who have never heard the names Rakim or Big Daddy Kane.

@@crazyhiphopp Disagree, I'm bored of this satanic obsessed emo uber white boy vibe he's been on. I want those clever bars with a sick sense of humor he used to hit us with in the 90s and early 2000s, I want some emotional honesty like he gave us on Hell's Winter, I want to hear an ounce of passion and love for the culture he came from. I was willing to take the ride with him on both Depart From Me and Kill The Architect but I was hoping for a return to home but instead just about everything he has released since then has been a step too far in the wrong direction. I think he needs to get in touch with his Hip-Hop roots. I doubt Cage would ever see this, but if by any chance you're reading this Cage, just give us one more album of what us fans who been riding with you since Radiohead or even "Rich Bring 'Em Back" really wants! For Your Box, Porn Again, Movies For The Blind, Leak Bros, Hell's Winter... I'm not saying the lyrical content has to be the same as those but what we really want is something with that level of lyrical quality over some sick sample based boom bap... Preferably Necro beats 😉

He just wants to be himself. Regardless, his lyrics are still tight regardless of if it's metal heads or hip hop heads enjoying it. In fact, the fact that the divide is being crossed between styles is a good thing for music as a whole.

Anyone noticed how Cage started acting like El-P around the time he swithced up his music style? If you watch The Home Movies or the Def Jux Tour DVD you can see how El-P talks the same way in interviews and even does the same facial expressions. Back then Cage had his own personality and way of talking.
I think El-P had a big influence on him.
And he seems more insecure in this interview than he ever did back in the day. I think he was depressed, drugged up and tired here.

it aint strange people complaining about his new style. i mean, these are his (former?) fans, who bought his albums, went to see his shows, people who related to him, people who put money in his pocket. Growth has nothing to do with it, he rapidly changed paths away from his fans who were with him on the road to damnation. And then suddenly cage wasnt there anymore. That false prophet chickend out. and he influenced/encouraged allot of people to follow in his footsteps and then he splits.

Uh he said he's not a homosexual to prove the point that he doesn't care what other dudes think about the way he dresses or does his hair. Sexual orientation is not a minority group.
