I think you should probably learn to edit and/or use modular design to iterate.

I've been coding professionally since 2014, I have a lot of experience editing big projects, I assure you. And I use ECS, which is pretty modular. I could edit the project on this stage and this is how I've done things in the past, I simply realize now that the ability to rewrite everything is my advantage, since I work on the game alone.
I've already reconsidered some critical decisions of old version systems and solved some issues that lingered for a long time, which I wouldn't even think about if I was to edit stuff as they were. At this point I'm pretty sure that was the right decision, especially considering long term health of the codebase
