    To be an "expert" of Alesis, it has not been a very interesting demonstration. Why can't anyone do anything cool with Tecno sounds or with Asians? I would have liked to be able to appreciate that drum-kit in its full potential. It has a really good sound bank.

    Is it just me or does the jazz kit (number 4) sound the most realistic out of all of these? The snare response seems better, toms sound better too, not so choppy digital as the others

    I have just purchased this kit and fully assembled it correctly, I know how to change program volume and have done but the hi hat (open) crash (not as bad) and ride are barely audible. It is a known issue as I have seen posts relating to this from 11 months ago on "getsatisfaction. com/alesis/topics/turbo-mesh-kit-low-volume-cymbals" where people are having to modify their product to make it work properly. I have tried the toms cables in the cymbals and the volume is correct. Are you going to fix this or is there a firmware upgrade I am unaware of. I will be leaving reviews for other buyers as its a huge undertaking putting this together for a child who wants to do something creative to be let down by an inoperable product.

      Absolute Music just compare it to the Roland TD-1K and the Roland runs rings around it in terms of dynamics, and there’s only 50 quid difference. I just hope the MIDI capability works and it’s not like the shocking DM Lite kit. Hopefully the poor dynamics is part of the onboard sounds as to why it sounds so poor with those machine gun snares etc, and not the capability of the kit itself.
      Hand on heart, I was genuinely shocked that an Alesis rep would display its flaws like this so transparently. But on the flip, it’s good that this is a fair representation of the kit. But it could also be that this demo is sounding and performing at its best and is still terrible. It’s a toy really, and I fear the MIDI implementation will be unusable for anyone wanting to record/map through a plugin.

    • @AbsoluteMusic
      @AbsoluteMusic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Skijumptoes Sure, if you don't want mesh head pads and happy with the harder pads that the Roland TD-1K provides. The Roland TD-1K would certainly take up less space too. I guess it really depends on your requirements and budget.

    • @Skijumptoes
      @Skijumptoes 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AbsoluteMusic It depends if you want a playable instrument, or something that's been designed to tick as many boxes as possible on a sheet for the lowest price possible - i guess that's pandering to the internet mindset of comparing the best specs for the cheapest price. I just know from other Alesis kits how terrible the MIDI implementation will be too, hope i'm proved wrong as perceived spec wise and price wise it's definitely hitting the spot incredibly well, but i've been burnt twice with them (Alesis), once as a small practise at home and another as a recommend to a friends child.
      Even the demonstrator can't manage a decent promotion, i've not seen one positive comment here, and i stand by my initial comment that it will only put people off buying. That's regardless of budget or requirement. Been better to have shown a few minutes on how it performs for people wanting to record or play via DAW/Drum plugin, as that's probably the biggest saleable asset it has IF it pulls it off.
