Max Headroom was a character from a variety of weird satirical cyberpunk shows in the late 80s, also used in advertising by Coke. Kinda weird that the original character has gotten overshadowed by the pirate broadcast incident, where a guy hijacked Channel 4's signal to broadcast his own weird Max Headroom bit, cable access style.
to be fair, this is one of those skits that's not as intuitive as a lot of others. The comedy in this skit is good but the general appeal to the comedy in this sketch is likely a little lower because of the oddity of the characters that make up the conflict/majority of the jokes.
@@Spartannex True. This and Continental Breakfast made me and my friends laugh harder than any other K&P skit when we first saw them. They also happen to be a lot of people's least favorite because they're so random and weird. I just find the ridiculous absurdity hilarious. Not for everyone. I've seen people either die laughing or just stare, confused and not getting it. There isn't much to get, it's just ridiculous. I also love some of the more smart "narrative" driven ones like Flicker and Cat Poster.
Firefly is a really awesome show. Its def. like cowboys in space, its great fun. You will like it I feel Dave. Now this is a funny one. Waterboard those Terries. You got to do the one with the landlord and the little person, so funny.

There is a 5 minute highlight video on ET's (Entertainment Tonight) channel, but it would be WELL worth it to watch the 23 minute bit (there are multiple posts of the speech on TH-cam). You would love it.
There are no aliens in Firefly. The reason it's filmed in space is because humans terraformed empty planets in their efforts to colonize them. All the societies and conflicts are between humans; there are no rubber-faced aliens. Also, the term "froggy" in the Key and Peele sketch is from an '80s American expression. Back then, if two guys were about to fight, one of them would say, "If you feel froggy, then jump" to antagonize his opponent to take a swing, like "Come at me." It's made sort of a comeback with the whole retro thing.
One hilariously weird one is the "Deez nuts" sketch. Jordan beats the joke into the ground, even in the face of personal tragedy, and potential HR issues.

It's a caricature of American black stereotypes at the extreme level. Weird hairstyles, using wrong words in sentences, the uncalled for bravado. I think that's why Ash doesn't get it.
