So I've actually done a lot of research on this because a few trolls have tried to hate on my deviled eggs 😜. "Deviled" was a term used in the 17th century to describe heavily seasoned, zesty, or spicy foods. So for what we call "deviled eggs" today, it's really the paprika, vinegar, and\or other "zesty" ingredients like mustard or pickles that make them "deviled" eggs
