Hi Tiffany and Sal! X-men is my favorite comic book series so I went back and watched all of the X-men Animated Series in preparation for X-Men ‘97. I introduced my girlfriend to the x-men a few months ago when we watched all of the movies and she loved them! We started XTAS in January and perfectly timed our binge with the release of the new show. We watched the last two episodes of the original and then put on the first two episodes of the new one and absolutely adored it. To me this is Marvel at its peak: it completely understands what it’s doing with these characters and what the audience what’s out of these characters. Knowing a lot of the X-men lore, I’m super excited to see their versions of Inferno and Storm’s punk era. Can’t emphasis enough how much we love the x-men and this show and we’re eagerly awaiting for episode three this Wednesday!!!
15:39 I went from "theatre GIRLS??!" *Side eye at Sal* to 15:42 "Daw! Sal's one of US!" I did Stage management and technical theatre at drama school and spent over a decade working back stage off west end and in the west end 🧡 never leaves you
Good to know that there are people out there who think Bishop is just the standing man emoji. For now. And my mom always loved Storm, but her ideal version of Storm she remembered when she read comics had a mohawk. So my mom was beyond thrilled with Storm. Until...some stuff happened. She's hooked. I'm hooked. Let's do this.
I loved X-Men 97! I watched the original show with my brother in the 2010s and the relaunch brings me back to when I watched the orignal series and read the Claremont run. My only gripe is that Trask is a villain again as Trask realizing he was the monster was one of the best momemts of X-Men TAS. Still this show has so much potential to cover other X-Men stories and give characters the finality they couldn't recieve in the comics.
Been looking forward to hearing ComicPop's thoughts on X-Men '97. I personally loved the first 2 episodes. They seriously NAILED it, and I cant wait to see episode 3
Saying Tiff would be insufferable as a theatre kid in another timeline broke my gut. Holycrap Sal i couldn't stop laughing. My jaw dropped lmao. We ARE insufferable though so I can't say you're wrong.
The Justin Hammer quote was in reference to the shady sponsor you mentioned at the top of the stream but yeah a half hour into a discussion it'd feel out of nowhere xD.
I cant believe you didnt get give the headliner to new ghost busters or xmen 97. I need you to tell me sal, was the new xmen genuinely pretty good / cool or did the nostalgia bukkake of it do its thing lol! I could literally feel my brain releasing dopamine and i got chills when that music came on. When i was a kid MY xmen was the xmen 97 and jim lee Clairmont Xmen and uncanny xmen 250 to 350. I never saw ghost busters afterlif3, i didnt watch last jedi or rise of skywalker until 2023. I am not normally affected by these nostalgia baits. So was it actualky cool, with magneto actor really pulling it out amazing or did they inject me a nostalgia high!? 🤔 all peace
SO crappy to hear about a sponsor being so idiotic- I'm doing better this year than I have recently and I hope to be able to support you guys and show my appreciation for everything you guys do. Much love!
I remember growing up with a part of the '92 series, I especially loved the intro, but it was not my favorite X-Men, however I loved this new continuation. Although I disagree that Disney has not done anything of this quality in animation, that is nostalgia speaking, especially because in the moments when two characters are talking there is a lack of more dynamism. What If and Visions have incredible and creative animation that is even more difficult to achieve in many moments. The difference It's not just that a story is more entertaining, there is also the fact that the name of X-Men has greater weight than 2 shows that are too not canonical for the fans.
@@comicpopreturns It's true, that series is more theirs than Lucasfilm's, although this one had their supervision, but to your point two better examples would be Clone Wars and Tales of the Jedi. That being said, even the show you are talking about is not entirely made by Marvel, neither is What If, both were a collaborative work with other studios, this is currently a common practice, even Gunn will do it with creatures commandos. In the end you can only accept both sides and recognize that the main studio did a good job whether as a collaborator or sponsor, Netflix is a great example of this.
It's funny you guys mentioned the Animated Series Catwoman because personally, even though I love BTAS, I never really cared for their version of Catwoman. It never felt like they got her personality right and while Adrienne Barbeau did do a good job, her portrayal sounded a bit too mature for the character and I felt like she was just missing the playful sass, sarcasm and overconfidence that Catwoman was known for. Her criminal activities were too toned down significantly and focused too heavily on the wrong aspects of Catwoman’s character which was her ecological agenda. I never liked that they didn't show enough of the iconic “cat-burglar” aspect of the character. Catwoman was a character I enjoyed actually way more in The Batman 2004 series where she was voiced by Gina Gershon, who is honestly my favourite animated voice of Catwoman.
I like the JLVsGodzillaVsKong book, but Superman getting taken out by Godzilla's atomic breath and a Green Lantern getting randomly stomped to death by Grodd are both ridiculous. Wonder Woman #7 was delightful. It's nice to see that Tom King can lighten up.
We don't request books unless you do so in a funny way. This goes back ten years when in the beginning of back issues people kept telling Sal to do world war hulk so he intentionally didn't do it for awhile lol. You see if he ever did take a request you have realize he would then be inundated with them constantly. Just heads up
9:55 good for you Sal, I'm happy you were able to forget Halle Berry Catwoman exists

My question is what is Bishop doing there. I love Bishop but if the X-Men see Bishop that is not a good thing.
@@chrisdaily2077 bros just chillin ig
That Wonder Woman issue perfectly encapsulated what it's like shopping for anyone. It's almost worse the more you know sbout the person
Just wanna throw some love to both channels! (I also can't think of the last time TH-cam sent out a notification for this channel going live)

Visions is a collection of other studios making something Disney distributes.

Anne Hathaway was great as Catwoman.

Agreed with Sal, this is what Marvel is supposed to be. X-Men just gets it as it always did.
9:54 I don't know if you want to count this but the Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe Catwoman was pretty bad

I have never liked Live Die Repeat as a title.
I think the wells book is all right. I only trade buy it though. It's not my favorite run but I don't bate it like others
