    There is something special about a tracked loader. Especially with the 4 in 1 bucket. I've seen hundreds of lots cleared and basements dug with one.

      Those things were everywhere at worksites in Europe until the mid-90s, when they slowly got replaced with excavators. It's a real shame too, since they were very versatile.

      I've wanted to get one since I first saw one. I was probably 16. There was an old Case track loader down the road from me and it'd been sitting for years. I wanted to ask the people about it, but they ended up having a HUGE tree fall in a storm and got it running to clear that out. Not sure what model. I know you'd need a tractor and trailer to move it.

      Yeaj, special is right. Versatile sure. Damn costly to operate too. Should have a wheel loader, and dump truck for this. That's a long run on tracks just for top soil.

    You gotta feel them track loaders. The teeth have to be down slightly from parallel with the ground to get them to load a heaped bucket. Since you can't see the teeth, ya gotta feel them. Takes seat time.

    Cabin on that little loader shakes bad but you don't seem to jiggle bad. I would still think that any kind of dump truck would be faster than tracking it to dump weeds.... that all becomes dirt if mauled up enough. I bet good dirt pays really well and that screened gravel should make a lot of driveways happy. I like those elevated cabs on the 345 cats were the sweet spot for loading logs and probably work for other stuff as well

    Most F-series have front wheel center locking hubs that need to be locked in to allow the 4WD to work. Unlock them when 4WD is not necessary to lighten the load on the axle creating a realistic 2WD.

    • @tinysworld1749
      @tinysworld1749 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most likely it has auto locking hubs with a vacuum leak, which means they won't lock in on their own. Lots of people don't realize they can lock them in manually since they've never had to do that before

    • @conqueyourworld
      @conqueyourworld 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tinysworld1749 And they get unintentionally messed with during removal or replacing of the hub cap during wheel and tire maintenance.
      As for the leaky line, though I have not tested this out...it could be more of the lack of the differential engaging even though the wheels are spinning. Needed to be engaged before getting stuck while the vehicle is able to drive into the transfer.
      Funny when drivers are out in 4WD conditions they are underprepared by not setting up before heading out; all the while others are driving AWD's on dry pavement...over-prepared.

    • @blacksheep9734
      @blacksheep9734 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because then you gotta stop production to move the truck youd be better off to put another conveyor under it

    • @mattstraley3877
      @mattstraley3877 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't put a dump truck underneath that belt because as soon as the dump truck pulls away the dirt will continue to pile up to the dump truck can't pull underneath there again you better off putting the stacker underneath that belt then you don't have to touch it again until you load it out

    Chris check out a trommel (rotary) screener. If you're doing pure topsoil (like this job) a vibratory screener works pretty good, but the trommel screener can be better when you have a lot of organics and debris like the last screening job. Either will work good, but just bringing up another option!

    I dunno about modern Ford trucks but my older Nissan 4x4 had to be in motion to engage the front hubs so if you were stuck in two wheel drive there was no hope of shifting into four wheel. I remedied that with a pair of Warn manual locking hubs after a passerby Toyota had to pull me out of my own front yard.

    • @tinysworld1749
      @tinysworld1749 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mark Conger all the '99+ superdutys with an electric shift transfer case have auto locking hubs with a manual backup. Pretty sure they are vacuum operated so a cracked line or leaking seals in the hub will keep them from locking in. So you would have to get out and lock them in by hand like the old style or like me with a floor shift work truck

    I looked at the title, and I looked at that track loader, and I thought there is no way they are going to manage to get that stuck. I thought there must be another loader with wheels, or maybe even a loader bizarrely buried under the big mound of earth. He sure as heck managed it though, and did a stand out job of it. Heck, that excavator even struggled a wee bit to pull it out of the hole it was in. When we saw the screener loaded onto the seven million mile lowboy truck, I assumed Chris was taking it back to Charlie. So were it this, and if it is a farm, why does he have that equipment? Chris, we need the back story because we are nosy that way.

    whats the max angle you can go in an excavator before you start having oil pick up issues in the engine?

      It really depends on the individual machine. The machine he is running would have to be at a considerable angle.

    Why didn't you use the Drott to load the screener? It would have been quicker...

      Can't see for one, dirt dry on top, although a trommel will screen wet just not as efficient. Hopper is most likely out of reach for traxcavator
