Considering the guy who did the art for this show also worked on Teen Titans, they're both voiced by Tom Kenny, and are both magicians, it was probably intentional.
Real talk, this guy is Bezel, the most powerful magic user in the universe. He was teased in the very first series cause he created the gems that gave Gwen her original powers

Omniverse is easily one of my favorite Ben 10 shows. Just wish it got a sequel. They were hyping up this intergalactic road trip with Ben, Rook, Max, Gwen and Kevin
