    Just wanted to give a update from yesterday’s comment. I plugged into the low output of my Suhr SL67 plexi style amp. I put my Freedman Buxom Boost in the low output and turned up the boost to almost halfway and Wow!!! The AC/DC- Zeppelin-ie Brown Sounds just poured out. I was stunned. I have been after theses tones for years and have spent thousands of dollars over time. I am very happy with my tone now and just wanted to say Thank You again for posting this video. It may seem like a small thing but it was HUGE to me!! You have a friend for life😂. God Bless and take care👍👍

    Finally! A demo of the JHS Angry Charlie and Friedman OD used as a boost pedal! Every demo that I've seen on TH-cam are using these pedals into a clean amp. My only criticism of this video is that I wish you could make your voice clearer so I can hear what you're saying better. It sounds like the high frequencies was dial down. Great tone by the way!

    Thank you very much Euge. This video was very helpful! I'm looking for a decent drive to play metal that I can carry around to play live and be "consistent" somehow. It never occurred to me to boost a BE-OD or an Angry Charlie. You actually gave me a few ideas to experiment. Again, thank you! And greetings from a Venezuelan lost in Ecuador.

    The Angry Charlie is my fave. I have their AT-2 which is the best distortion pedal I've ever owned. I'm a big believer in pedals through a good pedal platform like a Marshall, Fender or Peavey Classic.

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The AT-2 is great indeed.
      My live rig is based on pedals ’cos then you can get your tone basically with any amp that has a decent clean channel: I got bored on crappy od channels with rental amps (especially on summer festivals ’cos they’re used by everyone and the tubes are usually quite done on od channels especially on metal festivals 😎).

    Good comparisons! Alone, the Angry Charlie sounds more chewy (like a Bogner) and the BE-OD sounds a little clearer and more compressed (like a Friedman...go figure!). The SD-1 engaged seems to level the playing field a bit. Using the low sensitivity input is a great tip.

What would you say would bring me closer to a real amplifier sound on the computer: softube marshall jmp 2203 or Friedman BE-OD connected directly to the interface and adding an IR to it as the only post pedal process (both cases would be pushed with a sd-1 boss) Thanks for your time Euge.

    Hey really like your vids, have you ever tried running your amp set to a mild overdrive and then use more gain from the pedal so you could run a delay in front of an amp that has no fx loop. I’ve seen Zack Wylde use a carbon copy in front and he’ll just use it for leads which is mostly what I would use a delay for.

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! That’s exactly what I do always 👍😊. But I use the delay in that scenario mostly for cleans and probably throw the delay in at the end of solos cos it gets kinda disturbing if it’s on all the time on solos in this scenario. Or then I don’t use it all and just tell FOH to add some delay to my leads and cleans 😊

    As a suggestion if you run the distortion pedals through the efx loop it will bypass the amp tone and utilize the pure pedal tone while using the Marshall's cab for a 1:1 ratio comparison. 🤓

      I don’t have one so no 😎. But I bet they’d sound awesome with that type of pedal too. The low end most likely wouldn’t be as tight and the mids not that pronounced.

      @@EugeValovirta230V interesting! i did order a ts808 mini to pair with me angry charlie v3, that should do the job right? just to get the ball rollin, how would you recommend setting the tube screamer? your guitar tone is awsome!

      Yes, the ball will roll 😎💪.
      Thanks!
      I usually have the Level around 4:00 o’clock, Tone around 1:00-2:00 o’clock and Gain around 08:00 o’clock. This way the OD boosts the amp / pedal quite a lot, adds bite and just a little bit of clipping gain which is 👌.

      Pretty close. I’ve played many shows with a Friedman into a Fender Twin and a few times even with Shining and people were quite blown away by the sound and especially when they realized that I’m playing with a Fender combo 😊.

    You sounds great, strong and massive like Zakk, but why your settings always has 100500 tons of highs and sand? It’s not good for your mix, for your and followers ears too

      Thanks! I like the guitar tone to be in your face, mean and aggressive 😊. May I ask what speakers you use? With my Genelecs the sound is just fine and some of the sounds / settings are exactly the ones I’ve used for example on Cyhra’s albums. I mean I haven’t dialed my sound to be listened with laptop ”speakers” but with real ones 😊. And I’m not saying that you use those cos I don’t know 😎

      @@rudolfo211 Thanks Marc. One of the reasons is maybe cos I don't use any post processing (EQ, compression etc.) on these videos 'cos I want the gear to sound like it sounds "au naturel" :-). When I'm doing demos /recordings etc. and mix the guitars "properly" I usually add low and high pass filters to cut out the unnecessary low end and that high end sand.
