    Thx for addressing the fans in heads myth. As someone who designs and builds 'furry animal costumes" as a side business, I can say most of the time there isn't room in those for anything more than a small computer fan. Most of the fresh air return is thru the eyes, mouth, or hidden vent slits. There's a variety of materials we use that can aid in character survivability, like open cell foam.

    I felt your pain from Canada at that mention of Night of Joy, I can't even get my family to understand that festivals like that may be rotten for the workers.

    I got 2
    1. How do the fur characters keep hats or bows on their heads, especially if they are dancing around?
    2. How do thier heads not fall off, do they have a way to strap it down so it's not bouncing around or fall off

      1. The hats are attached

    Former job had a one-name policy, so when my friend Bruce started there, a Bruce already existed. They wanted to use his other name, Harold, but we already had one of those. They finally settled on H.B. He became so well known under that moniker that his obit read Bruce "H.B." Wilson.

    You had 20 or 30 options for nametags??? Dang I was lucky if they had 4 lol. The Chris thing is pretty true but you might also see pat or Alex from Orlando. I did find a Courtney and Jordan name tag tho lol. Working The Great Movie Ride with a different name was fun bc I'd have to remember to say the name on my tag haha

    Yeah, I’ve heard the one about the CM’s partying backstage numerous times. I can’t believe people doing the “naughty” on Disney attractions has become like an actually thing people try to do. It’s not just Disney either. This year on two separate occasions people at Cedar Point were caught doing it. Like cmon people it’s a family park, and do you seriously think you’re not going to get caught?!?

    I worked at Disneyland in 1990, for the youngsters in the crowd, this is when Disneyland was a single park, and California Adventure was still the parking lot, at the time my name was “Jonathan” I was one of two cast members at the park that had this first name with this particular spelling, so if I lost my name tag which happened several times. One time I had to go by my middle name for three days while the special ordered my replacement tag.

    Myth: The parade on Main Street in Magic Kingdom is called the Three O’clock Parade.
    Fact: The parade on Main Street in Magic Kingdom is called Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade and according to their website, it begins every afternoon at 3:00 P.M.

    Before I watch this video beyond 0:34 here’s what I’m guessing are the myths, in no particular order.
    1-Walt’s body was cryogenically frozen
    2-no one has been declared clinically dead on Disney Parks property (or at least at Walt Disney World)-specifically that onsite paramedics are disallowed from declaring someone dead until they are beyond the property limits so that Disney can officially say no one’s ever died at the parks
    3-Walt was racist (the simple fact that he hired Floyd norman destroys that myth)
    4-walt was sexist and wouldn’t hire a woman animator (plausible, except that the truth behind the story is that the woman in question had apparently applied to be a keyframer-in those days women animators were generally hired as inbetweeners)
    5-Walt was antisemetic (the fact that he greenlit anti-Nazi propaganda films, and “Education For Death” in particular, contradict this view)
    6-Fur characters have costumes with “air conditioners in their heads”
    7-Disney owns everything because it’s a giant megacorporation run by liars, thieves and lawyers

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a couple on that list that I didnt cover in this one that I may go back and cover at some point. But there are people out there who have covered them better than I could.
      #2 you're close on. it's actually because in Florida you have to have a coroner pronounce someone dead, and they don't do that at the scene, even if it's clear. Only at the hospital. So it's not just at Disney in Florida that happens.

  • @dadsabrat18

    you going to do a video on the silver dollar city train tipping over? I know it was important to you!

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm holding off for now (hence the text post on the channel last night) until there is more known about what happened, and why. I'm not going to put out a lot of speculation or inaccurate information as some are doing, so I'd rather wait and have something real to talk about.
      More than just what the park has publicly said so far, which is, "the train derailed and tipped over, some people were hurt, 6 sent to the hospital but all are ok"

  • @angieharriman3378
    @angieharriman3378 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    We had a different name tag problem. According to workplace rules your name tag had to have your legal name. No nickname allowed. We had a girl who never used her first name. She was always called by a family nickname and didn't answer to anything else. It was nonsense.

    One myth that I hear quite a bit is that if someone dies while at Disney, they aren’t actually declared as deceased until they’re off Disney property. Because “no one dies at Disney”.

    One thing I wish would change is cast being able to take cash tips. Some positions can and most can’t. But they can except an item under 10 dollars. Make no sense.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A gift can be verified. Cash can't. it's a way to keep from having cast members asking for tips, or making the type of service they give depend on if they're being given a tip or not. That can actually be a great topic for a whole video.

    Here are a few I have heard.
    1) On hot days, those In fur costumes are naked.
    2) Full-mask costumes can be played by either sex. So when you see Mickey playfully flirting with a female guest, he might actually be a she. Same with Minnie flirting with guys.
    3) Disney World employs full-time crocodile hunters to capture and release those that get to close to WDW. Only if the croc returns, do they kill it.

      @@hallowthrifty2961 great acting though, I've seen some mickeys really sell the character. They all do a good job, I'm sure it's alot of hard work being a character there face or fur especially in the summer time. I was there in september in a tank top and shorts watching The ones that do the stage show by the castle and I was sweating after a few minutes. Mickey and minnie were on the stage the whole time so like 20 minutes dancing around and everything. I felt bad for them, their hard work was very appreciated though the show was great

    Interesting fact, the reasoning behind only allowing one person to have a certain name was because they were all highlanders in those days, and as we know, "there can only be one." Since the movies came out that secret became open, and now anyone can have any name.
