London doesn't have a downtown, there is only central and greater London, the best way to see the buildings is by bus and the tube is great for getting to each area, there are so many small alleys to explore (lots of walking) and the museums are huge and free.

      Those alleys are so unique!

When they say London is compact he is talking of the centre of London, and London it's self covers 610 square miles, and then you have a larger area called the London Metropolitan area that covers 3,236 square miles.

London Transport is very good. Buses, Trains, Underground, Taxis. There's many London Rail options.😊

Also the DLR* and the Cable cars at the Canary Wharf are too.
(*Docklands Light Railway - which is fully automated...no human drivers!!)

Some of it is, some of it isn't...
Evan Edinger (an American now living in London, and now a Citizen of the UK) has a video where he and a group of his friends cycle around London on specific bike lanes, and apparently the Borough of Kensington & Chelsea have very poor, if any, bike lanes, so reducing the enjoyment, increasing the stresses of London cyclists within that borough...
(It's where the rich people tend to live and apparently they object to their council spending money on cycle lanes and anything cycling-related.
      - Boo to 'Kensington & Chelsea')

That video is apparently eight years old so the London skyline has changed and gives different views from different angles. By the way, London has no "Downtown" ...
It has West End (the theatre district and main tourist destination) the East End, (jewellers and business district)
North London, Soth London, then variations inbetween: North West,
North East, South West, South East*
(*Where I'm from, and have lived for most of my 71 years!!) All leading out to yet linked closely via road, train, bus, tram networks into the surrounding "Home Counties" such as Kent, Essex, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire etc...

Which time period would you like to go back to Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Norman, High Medieval, Tudor, etc. It's all there. Museums are free, and the travel network is good. From Yorkshire

From the first comment in the video '....reads like an epic saga'. But epic sagas were/are Norse (Iceland, Norway etc......), not English. Well, OK, _Beowulf_ is written in Old English, but it's a thousand years old.

Tower Bridge dates to the 1890s...that's about 100 years _after_ the Industrial Revolution. Who writes these scripts, eh? This is a rather predictable and mundane overview of the 'must see' monuments in London. The city is so much more and bigger than that - if you came for a fortnight's holiday every year for ten years, you would not do it justice. It's probably best to be accompanied on your visit, if possible, by a Londoner. Your NW10 rapper, BTW, is lying through his teeth!

I agree about the rapper unless he sat in his bedsit every day, stoned out of his mind. NW10 is practically within walking distance of the West End.
