Notse is the original place of Okomfo Anokye. He migrated from there to Awukuguah which was part of the Great Akwamu Kingdom. Okomfo Anokye met his friend Osei Tutu and by the help of Akwamuhene Ansah Sasraku they came to Kwaman led by General Anum Asare (Adum in Kumasi derived from Anum)

"Hogbe" means "origination" or "root".
"Tsotso" is a verb which means "Coming from"
Together it means "Coming from origin" or "root"
