I was contracting in Mildenhall in the 90s and the factory was adjacent to the airbase and omfg, when this took off the entire building shook! I got to see it take off twice and again the ground shook and I swear once it was off the ground it was only seconds before it was gone, a seriously impressive exhibition! Thanks again Mr Guardia. 👍
There is an a12 blackbird at the space and rocket center in Huntsville and I remember running around under it as a kid in the early 90s. We always thought it was an sr71. There is another a12 at the southern museum of flight on Birmingham. It's funny I've seen 2 of the 7 remaining a12s and when I was a kid I didn't realize how special they were
Interesting how there was so much misinformation about this super secret aircraft. I’d not previously heard about it so that makes this an exceptional educational endeavor. Thank you for highlighting this plane and adding to my military aircraft base information. It is a stealthy looking plane.
That's the name of the series _Great Fighting Jets_ ... It's not saying that the SR71 was a fighter jet. It was more officially titled _Great Fighting Jets: SR-71 Blackbird (1991)_
What they stated in the video as how President Johnson announced the plane is incorrect. President Johnson called the plane the “SR-71”, when it’s real designation was RS-71, for “reconnaissance strike”. Nobody knew of the existence of the A-12 until 1982 when the Oxcart program was declassified.

That's not what I was looking for, thank you for your service bro
I know can't stop thinking of it

Hands down one of my favorite aircraft.. thanks for sharing captain.. :)
Amazing Jet !!
Amazing how small the landing gear was for this plane.
Anyone know the name of the narrator?
Ron David. His YT channel is @ronaldavid
Ron David narrated this show.
This is 60 plus years ago. For a laugh search African Aircraft Compilation today.
Yt Just recommended this 4 me!
We got the titanium from the Russians! LOL
Kelly Johnson used the finest computer that ever existed in designing the Blackbird.
The one between his ears.
It’s not exactly a fighting jet. More like a super fast camera, haha.
@@spinynorman887 uhhh. Exactly. I literally said it’s not a fighting jet. 🤦🏻♂️
SR 71 a "great fighting jet"?, you know better, fix that title.

I find this very interesting. Stick with me here! Titanium is not an indigenous metal on earth! There is so very little, and it's extraterrestrial!
Titanium oxide is the black coloured sand at your local beach. You be might be thinking about iridium.
Titanium’s far from rare: Titanium dioxide is a food additive, which we make 9 million tonnes of a year.

This is the comment I was looking for now I don't have to write it!
Fighter jet? No.
One variant, the YF-12A, was destined to be an interceptor.
@@cheez71 I agree. But the title says SR71 Blackbird: great fighting Jets.
@@cheez71 and your name should be CheezSR71.
@@mikeconti3537 nice burn!
