When it comes to Herb Dean injecting himself into the fight or not, people forget he’s not only working for the UFC. The statement “that’s the most active I’ve seen him EVER” shows that. Herb refs at ONE FC which policies are more towards pushing the fighters to be more active. You see him there much more engaging into action. The event being in the sphere might have carried him a bit away that he doesn’t want to be responsible for a boring fight. Was it too much of him asking them to fight while they were clearly doing enough? Yes probably, but he neither destroyed the experience of the fight nor did he push the fighters to do something stupid. Still goat ref imo
