The Great British Radio Play 2023 - บันเทิง
I love these radio plays. Thank you.
Thank you for bringing these plays to us
Fun scary! Love Mr. Swift. His character could have channeled pent up anger from being hounded by Hyacinth all those years ;)
Thank you, I think this just might be my favorite radio broadcast and I have listened to many over these many years. Perfect delivery. I didn't think I'll ever forget it. Marvelous. I'm going to subscribe now. Regards from Chicago.
Clive Swift and Lyndsey Marshal were the perfect pair for this Radio Play. They really brought out their characters to where I could envision them. Thoroughly enjoyed it!!!
The guy in the train compartment sounds like Richard. Hyacinth Bucket-pronounced Bouquet’s husband.
I can't un-see it now👌
It is of course Clive Swift, Richard Bucket !
It is , loved watching that comedy 😂
RIP Clive Swift
Old Swifty I used to call him so I did!
Thanks for this story, it was brilliant.
Thank you! 👍🏻❤️
Thank you ❤. Love it . St. Louis , Missouri
Brilliant. The tension builds up so well and Clive Swift is fantastic. Gave me goosebumps.
This is one of those stories to which you have to pay close attention. It was so brilliantly done that many people don't realize that there are actually two stories being told (past and present) so there are two endings that are merged back to back and this is why they are confused.
That’s interesting. Can you elaborate on this? I love hearing people’s opinions. Myself, I thought maybe she was dead & that’s why the train was there when it shouldn’t have been & perhaps her decision to approach the young lad was her fate in going to hell.
Excellent story. Thank you!
Great story. I lost track of past and present ; story or current day. Love it!
Thank you for sharing. ❤
Clive Swift was brilliant in two of the Ghost Stories for Christmas on the BBC in the early seventies.
With Anna Cropper, another underrated actor, being possessed....two groovy couples. It's on DVD.
Fabulous!!!! Thank you
Clive Swift from Keeping up appearances
Yes. I remember that voice. RIP
Richard, No Doubt!!
Delisciously spooky. And beautifully presented. 10/10
Shiver. It brought back some unsettling memories of weirdos I've encountered on trains in the past, thankfully we don't have those compartments now.
Chilling story. I won’t be catching the last train ever again 😅
This one gave us the chills. We had a great time listening. Thank you.
Very good!
That was great! I won't listen when it's dark outside, but it was a good story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this! Thank you.
Golly gosh I am having to stop listening to this FOR NOW it's too spooky 👻 I'll carry on tomorrow daytime.
I love ❤️ these plays, working alone but for the animal's I find them terrific company. Thank you so much 🐾
What do you do working on your own
@john parlmer I run a dog daycare and a natural dog treat business. Customer's drop off their dog for the day or if ordering treats they are either posted out or collected from the pick up place. Makes me sound a bit of a sad case 😆🐾
No one who likes dogs is a sad case
Loved this story , not to long just enough for a relaxing too.
Thank you!!
Great book!
Nice
Nice story! Mamaaaaa😢😢😢
Very well crafted and perfectly told. But the writer's name doesn't seem to appear anywhere, which is a shame. Stories don't grow like mushrooms in the rain; someone deserves credit for concocting them.
Nick Warburton is the author
Nick Warburton writes exceptionally clever plays. When I last bothered to listen to the BBC...
👍👍🌻
Loved it!
The narrator sounds like Clive Swift. 😊
A play for bedtime! Perfect timing, thankyou 😊😊😊
Also "RRRRICHAARD!
I loved this story. Thank you x
that voice is richard !!! ( from hyacint ) keeping up appearances
Sounds like keeping up appearences
Thanks 👍
Can someone explain this to me
Very good.
I tried this chat with a young lady from a nice family I met on a train recently.
It didn't end well.
😂
I didn't get the ending.
Great story and I am anticipating the conclusion
It’s Superlative ; British OTR. A Rarity ; I didn’t want to bother Just its at its finest; Len . LBC. So.CALIFORNIA 🍀🍀🍀
No woman owes a man courtesies.
A tale about serial killer trying to avenge for his hurt ego, as a result of made up fantasy. I think he was borderline mental, but meeting with the rich girl triggered all the wrong things in him. Sad story
Can anyone tell me what type of music “I don’t smoke” is? I love the rhythm of it. 👍
Mr. Bucket
She certainly wasn't the bucket women.
😂😂😂
Without revealing anything about this story, i just want to say its one i listen to often.
Its nothing so great, or fanciful or scary or happy or tragic..
Its just a tale that somehow reassures & because i know its ending & have heard it many times i can concentrate on the words, the brilliant acting of
Clive Swift & the steady build up
& how easily trust can be misplaced.
Also the unfair treatment of those who serve the Gentry & nobility & that they observe their place, bow to their betters
& never step out of place, which was once the case, not that long ago.
How easy it is to lull someone into anothers trust or situation
Its an excellent story, very well written & something i imagine someone like Dickens writing.
Every time i see it pop up on my scrolling menu, i set aside 45mins
To relax & listen again.
So anyone wanting an uncomplicated, old fashioned type tale of intrigue, tension & mounting fear, then this is the
Perfect play.
Regards & Peace
🇬🇧👧
How this can reassure you, I have no idea. It's clearly tragic and for all the wrong reasons.
I only recently found out Joe Swift the tv gardener is Clive Swift's son. I don't know how I never put two and two together because he's his absolute double.
Richard!!!!!
😮
Not a cozy little bedtime story. 😮
Hmm that was different
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
27/05/2023
Well, that was different ...
It's Richard Bucket. I mean Bouquet lol
Hand-painted periwinkles, anyone?
????????????😮
Very creepy.
❤Grateful for the performances and the writing as far the dialogue & plot..but there are logic holes a mile wide. How does "Davey" manage to arrange the train. Any aspect of it..from the driving to no other passengers...how does he switch the points to the old track..he never leaves Connie's side for a moment..How does he burn down the old train station again and again.. It's a helluva of a lot of paraphysical power to ascribe to one disgruntled ex-station master.. and not even a dead one..
Way too slow and seriously dragged in the middle so had to FF, twice.
I initially thought she was the girl's ghost forever young, while he stayed alive and travelled the trains so he could see her! Would've been a better ending, from what I gathered.
I didn’t understand the ending?
So there was no point to listen to the end. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
There is no certain ending, so we can find one to our own liking! For me, this story will end with the villain finally meeting his match
The man on the train is Davey and he is also a demon/diabolical.
Sorry, but I didn't like this one at all. Totally unnecessary ending for something with so much promise.
Not good ….too many awful things happening to women trying to get home at night…. a lady in Aberdeen was recently brutally attacked and when she could no longer move doused in petrol and burned to death . May she rest in peace.
Boooring! And....why do girls always have to cry!!! Seriously!!! Very disappointing tale.
