Lewis, China is worker boosted Wonders. Aztec is worker boosted Districts. Egypt builds wonders faster next to rivers and can build them on flood plains.
2:57:00 "This is a garbage start" Settle across the river! One tile away, and you got a decent food and production income for turn 1 and you don't give up a freshwater city! Correct me if I am wrong, I only have this video to go off of.
yea but they werent paying any attention to their cities, it was all, build ships, now what, eh build a campus i guess, now build more units! though I blame Duncans dumb ass for that
Lewis Logic "I would never get all of this in MP, so I won't do it in singleplayer" I mean... I understand it, I just don't agree, kinda the best part of Singleplayer is being able to do things you couldn't normally do in MP, it's difficulty locked anyway so I'd just enjoy it while I had it and remind myself that it won't be that way in MP.
"I love this part of the game, exploring and deciding what to do" "Uhhh I hate scouting, it's just so annoying" Obviously the joy of making decisions is so exhilarating that it beats scouting up and drags it along
anyone understood why he move his setler away from the river at the begining losing 2 housing, 1 stone tile and 1 better banana tile it was adumb move from my pov
He's doing a livestream, the prepped save was made so he wouldnt waste stream time rerolling the world. I personally think rerolling a world is cheating but I'm not playing civ games to entertain thousands of people. Cut him some slack, it's for your benefit after all.
It was nice to see Lewis talk himself out of expressing distaste for Tomyris/Scythia. They are pretty cool and their gamplay is a nice combo of military/religious.
I'm watching the last episode of civ 6 from the yogscast right now and i'm hearing a scandinavian rendition of it. I guess you're right. I saw a video recently explaining how the soundtrack works in civ 6 and how it evolves during the eras. There scarborough fair was used as the theme for engeland. Pretty odd...
I hope we get a Scottish civ eventually, so many great choices. Robert the Bruce or maybe William the Lion? I know they had a very impressive naval force in the medieval period and if we could work in some sort of special engineering perk I would be a happy camper
By moving your first settler where you did, you lost your optimal encampment spot, (between the lake and the bananas) I would just have moved inland, settling on the hill that was directly left since as England you have to get a harbor anyway. (That encampment would have been a good way to force invaders from the sea through the inlet)
I dont need 3 hours for a masterclass: Opening build order: slinger-slinger-slinger-slinger-archer-archer-archer-archer-archer-archer-warrior. (sometimes you may include an early worker if you have at least 1 forest to cut so that it can repay fast enough for your 5th and 10th archer not to be delayed.) Research priorities: Archery - Random stuff you need to improve tiles, get eurekas, and early lock science and commercial districts - Stirrups. Conquer your neighbours with 10 archers and 2 warriors forming 2 battle groups. Build some workers, monuments and settlers with the conquered cities and in capital after these archers. When you get near Stirrups (around turn 80-90), build a siege tower and a bunch of charriots, upgrade them to knights as much as you have money. Have the half price upgrades civic if you can. Conquer the rest of the world, but leave 1 capital if you want a different victory than conquest. You now have like 30 cities to make every VC easy before turn 200 and usually this is the fastest way to get to any of the VCs. (on deity) If you want religious victory, make sure the first 3 or so cities you conquer have a holy site already in them.
Great Library would be powerful if your early game is really strong in culture with minimal science, and you beeline the civic and chop out Great Library. If you have a really focused game where you will be missing lots of boosts, it's a situationally really powerful wonder.
lewis messed up by not caring about faith. In multiplaer he will need it to defend in the later game against invading religion as well as get the specfic great people he needs for his victory path, whatever that may be. Also seeing as religion and pantheon give some sort of boost, better than nothing.
Lewis also doesn't know that in Civ 6 a Pantheon will always stay with the civ that finds it regardless if another civ comes and puts their religion in the city
You're right, you cant defend against other civs religions converting you late game without a strong religion. Meaning you cant go for the religious victo... oh wait, he isnt. Your opinion is invalid.
+Jan-Erik Strøm The first half of your comment was correct, but then it went off the rails. Just because you are able to defend against a religion, does not mean you can or even are going for the religiois victory type. He said he was trying to play realistically, right? Then if someone in multiplayer was going down that path he would be litterally powerless to stop them winning. Also technically an opinion can't be "invalid", in other words wrong. An opinion can be stupod as hell, based on mis-information and ignorance, but can never actually be invalid due to it being based on what a person feels, not facts. Hope this cleared up your confusion about the religious vic. type.
unemployedbean It is invalid though as Lewis wasnt going for religious power. What I said wasnt confused in the least, as religion is mostly geared towards great people generation and religious victory. Lewis plays this game from how his start turns out, if he had been in a position to play religious, he would've chosen to and would've done his best with it. However, he decided not to, so any viewpoints as to him being mistaken in not playing faith is invalid as he played to the best of his abilities with his starting point and pantheon. There actually isnt so that each civ can get a religion in this game, someone will always be left without and will be using another religions stuff. If anything, Lewis could take advantage of someone elses religion most likely to fight off the religion becoming dominant. However, I dont know how religion bonuses work well enough to have an opinion on that yet. Religion can be ignored completely though.
You're slightly irked by the fact Scythia is in the game, I'm slightly irked that there's 2 leaders for Greece in the game (Yes I'm fully aware the various Poleis were more or less independent city states, but still!
Civ 6 looks incredible. I have an issue with the time it takes to look at the different policies and tech/cult trees during a multiplayer game. I think it would take too long where that few min turn timer might have to be 5-10 min to get everything right during a massive war. What do you think about the multiplayer since I am just assuming. I can't wait for the game :D
They're both boring af alone, but stick em in the same game and the chaos gods unleash their full fury on it. The more yogs you add to the mix, the better it gets.
Why is gold bad to be going for (21:20)? I'm a newcomer to the Civ series and have just finished my second game of Civ 6, sorry if it's a newbie question.
Lewis please me a super noob friendly guide-ish video for Civ 6. I bought civ 5 but i couldn't stomach playing it for longer than 4hours because i was being bombarded by information, and I would love to actually enjoy the game.
Wondering why you didnt build directly left of your starting location across the river? You dont need to be next to the coast to build the shipyards/docks now.
Actually, he's wrong, or looking at it wrong. All Civs are strong but at different intervals of the game. Early/Mid/Late Game. Similar to the meta of moba types.
Moves away from a city on a hill, an initial housing bonus, 1 Banana and 1 Stone as well as extending the range of 2 tiles that you want to be working ASAP just to get a district bonus later. Really not the best idea.
Someone donates $100
Lewis: thanks... So uhh.. I think we should work this tile.. 😂😂
That's like drinking money for Lewis lol
Toilet paper.
It was just a small donation of a million dollars.
somone donates $1000000
lewis: thanks so uhh i think we should work this tile
Timestamp?
I been watching yogscast for years and I feel like Lewis gets better with age
Da Carrotman couldn't agree with you more
Lewis is like a fine wine confirmed
Beastly no, he is the fine wine
True... *remembers "How to survive the first night"* So true
Shamwow Games remembers shadow of israphel 😪
Lewis, China is worker boosted Wonders. Aztec is worker boosted Districts. Egypt builds wonders faster next to rivers and can build them on flood plains.

is it just me or does Lewis look more and more like a necromancer the closer we get to the Christmas livestreams
It's just his organism is preparing to GET FUCKED UUUUP!
holy shit, thats my next 3 hours sorted then
Homunculus so true XD
Same
yeees its going to be epic
I am not interested in a trade agreement with England!
Funky meme, bro.
Spain says "No.".
Fuck Spain for that thanks very much. Sincerely, Scotland.
only 15 min in and I can tell this will be way better played than the viking playthrough
I'm 30 mins in and already want more viking stuff. To each their own, as they say, eh? :P
Gotta admit, that viking playthrough was full of action!
yea but they werent paying any attention to their cities, it was all, build ships, now what, eh build a campus i guess, now build more units! though I blame Duncans dumb ass for that
Fuck me I missed a Lewis solo stream? Damnit!
image sorts out everything doesnt it now
it feels like lewis spends all his time preparing for things that he doesn't get around to doing because he's preparing for other things
Masterclass at Prince difficulty level, so awesome!!!! Next time try it on Settler
Ayeeee we got a fun night ahead of us lads!
Lewis Logic "I would never get all of this in MP, so I won't do it in singleplayer"
I mean... I understand it, I just don't agree, kinda the best part of Singleplayer is being able to do things you couldn't normally do in MP, it's difficulty locked anyway so I'd just enjoy it while I had it and remind myself that it won't be that way in MP.

anyone understood why he move his setler away from the river at the begining
losing 2 housing, 1 stone tile and 1 better banana tile
it was adumb move from my pov
He did it for a good comercial hub (not worth it)
Raul Epure he can build an aqueduct
Raul Epure I've only ever played Civ 5 but doesn't building on a river give a lot of rewards?
I think he did it because it was "dangerous" and he was trying to give the AI a small advantage.
yeah adjacency bonuses, as you said though, probably not worth it
I don't know this guy, so i'm not a fanboy, nor a hater, but this was in no way a masterclass.
Shakaama he’s known for being a fucking bad ass in civ, he made mistakes in this for handicaps
3 minutes into the game and lewis is already breaking out the cheats
+Nick Moon that's not cheating.nIt's like a cooking show who cook food in advance
He's doing a livestream, the prepped save was made so he wouldnt waste stream time rerolling the world. I personally think rerolling a world is cheating but I'm not playing civ games to entertain thousands of people. Cut him some slack, it's for your benefit after all.
This video will serve me well. Lewlew's gentle voice of reason shall sing me to sleep while educating me on the topic of Civ6.
Starts at 0:48 :)
I thought this was a live stream when I first saw this
30:19 - Sean Bean dies
Toasted Synapse Gaming lol
+ plezx29 it is a livestream...
Luca DeFranco No it's not
5:45 "Them having to come into my inlet sounds like a nightmare for them to do." Wow Lewis. I guess you do have trouble staying straight.
Lewis came into my inlet. But the Police won't believe me.
good, one more thing to waste time on whist I wait for civ 6, Thanks
lewis getting his practice in for the first yogscast civ6 games
Scarborough Fair playing in the background. Beautiful.
It was nice to see Lewis talk himself out of expressing distaste for Tomyris/Scythia. They are pretty cool and their gamplay is a nice combo of military/religious.
so hyped for the Christmas streams! Just over a month to go! Gotta get that 7-man major power HoI game boiiii
nice vault 111 thing
when lewis said "i just wanted to play a minecraft series with duncan i was like" OOOO ship it. lols
i just listened to scarborough fair and now i hear it again as the theme of england, it's a good choice tbh.
I think it's general, the vikings also had it. Same for greensleeves.
I love how at the start of the stream Lewis says he is going to rush through the game!
I hope we get a Scottish civ eventually, so many great choices. Robert the Bruce or maybe William the Lion? I know they had a very impressive naval force in the medieval period and if we could work in some sort of special engineering perk I would be a happy camper
Little late, but boy do I have news for you...
By moving your first settler where you did, you lost your optimal encampment spot, (between the lake and the bananas) I would just have moved inland, settling on the hill that was directly left since as England you have to get a harbor anyway. (That encampment would have been a good way to force invaders from the sea through the inlet)
"Bam its me.. lewis..."the best intro ever and by the the A SOLO LEWIS VIDEO WOW its really cool (and uxpected)
that tune at the end was great lol
I dont need 3 hours for a masterclass:
Opening build order: slinger-slinger-slinger-slinger-archer-archer-archer-archer-archer-archer-warrior. (sometimes you may include an early worker if you have at least 1 forest to cut so that it can repay fast enough for your 5th and 10th archer not to be delayed.)

I like the way the map tile flash green if needed repair
i love how the first lesson is if you dont have the start you want just scrap it lol
5:40 I know coming in inlets can be really painful
Great Library would be powerful if your early game is really strong in culture with minimal science, and you beeline the civic and chop out Great Library. If you have a really focused game where you will be missing lots of boosts, it's a situationally really powerful wonder.
lewis looks absolutely magnificent in the thumbnail xD
I love how he already knows that he is going to be 4v1 in multiplayer :D
54:45 - I laughed my ass off. Good job Lewis :D
Just Lewis and his civ skills.
Oh snap.
Lewis is amazing :)
Damn I can't wait to play this Friday.
Plays as England
Shows UK flag
Triggered
Well, there goes my night.
Scythia: Steppe Horde nation from the area north of the Caspian Sea, expanded towards modern Ukrain. Time period: About the same as the Roman Empire.
Lewis needs his own channel. Seriously.
So excited for Civ 6
Huzzah! Three more days, folks!
Also, apparently my birthday is only one day before Lewis'.
Maybe my life has meaning now.
Nah
I wouldnt mind more streams of just Lewis
when the lady moves behind him! I died!
We need Simon and Lewis to do more series in CIV 6
lewis messed up by not caring about faith. In multiplaer he will need it to defend in the later game against invading religion as well as get the specfic great people he needs for his victory path, whatever that may be. Lewis also doesn't know that in Civ 6 a Pantheon will always stay with the civ that finds it regardless if another civ comes and puts their religion in the city

Top notch Lewis banter
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen Lewis do solo video/livestream before.
Ah a stream with my favorite Yogscast member :3 my next three hours are gonna be good.
You're slightly irked by the fact Scythia is in the game, I'm slightly irked that there's 2 leaders for Greece in the game (Yes I'm fully aware the various Poleis were more or less independent city states, but still!
first hour trying to figure out where to settle
xD

why does this magnificent bastard not have his own channel?^^
pindakaas42 Because it would fuck over Simon.
They're both boring af alone, but stick em in the same game and the chaos gods unleash their full fury on it. The more yogs you add to the mix, the better it gets.
Lewis lacks spontaneity, and Simon lacks direction. Lewis excels at direction, and Simon excels at spontaneity.
The Ancient Greeks gave the name Scythia (or Great Scythia) to all the lands north-east of Europe and the northern coast of the Black Sea.
1:39:10 "is that what Petra looks like?" lol
All the Ads i had for this 'stream were the Civ VI Launch Trailer.
3 more days till release!!!!!!!!! Chooo choo!!!!
Eric Beich wait when is it released? Monday or Saturday?
FRIDAY WOOO
Friday isn't it? Should be on the 21st.
got my refund already.
Thanks for sharing.
is it worth takeing over a city-state, or just using the envoys to milk them?
Why is gold bad to be going for (21:20)? I'm a newcomer to the Civ series and have just finished my second game of Civ 6, sorry if it's a newbie question.
Lewis please me a super noob friendly guide-ish video for Civ 6. I bought civ 5 but i couldn't stomach playing it for longer than 4hours because i was being bombarded by information, and I would love to actually enjoy the game.
You don't see rainforests in England because they cut it all down to build the Pyramids but Egypt beat them to it. They wasted all that production
Wondering why you didnt build directly left of your starting location across the river? You dont need to be next to the coast to build the shipyards/docks now.
strange move alright
maybe at the time that wasn't an option yet
This is NOT a Master Class on CIV 6. It is a pre-saved starting spot on PRINCE...
Cannot wait for it to come out in 2 days
3 days
Oh on steam it said 2 days so i thought it was only 2
Jarczy well for me it says 21st which is a friday
please make more of theseeeeeee
Hey Lewis did you/will you get around to making that video focused on strategy and tips you mentioned in the video?
Lewis is such a cutie
gay
sounds pretty gay to me
LuLu
I'd come into his inlet, if you know what I mean... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Worth it being gay when you are talking about Lulu-senpai
Is this the first time ever that Lewis played and recorded a game by himself?!?!?!?!?!?
Lewis complains about housing and does not build lighthouse lol.
You 100% should've settled on the spot. You moved out of range of 2 special tiles, got one less housing, more jungle and less firtile land
Lewis, you're the best!
make more of these videos Lewis
lewis doesn't need anyone else to play with he's got 10 people in his head
How in the hell has it been 6 years since civ 6 came out
Shudve gone online speed for England. Also should've looked at rushing ships for defense through seas.
I have a problem with how cluttered the graphics are on these games. IS the strategic view any good for this?
Good to watch while waiting for Steam to install the game. :)
I wonder if Lewis has 100+ hours yet.
Seems like he has at least 72 hours xd
I can't believe I'm actually about to watch this, see you on the other side
fyukfy gaming yhea same m8 im still loocking after like 1.54 houres0.0
Actually, he's wrong, or looking at it wrong. All Civs are strong but at different intervals of the game. Early/Mid/Late Game. Similar to the meta of moba types.
Waiting for him to settle Kilimanjaro is painfull
This game 1:20:23
"Lady of the Marshes and Reeds and Things?"
What Civilization are you all considering playing first?
oh Lewis has been playing Atlas Reactor? Wonder how he is at that?
Fuuuuck man 1:15:06 the knocking sound in 3D headphones sounded like it was coming from my window at midnight. That’s the worst experience ever.
first word in thestream chat wer OOOOH SHIIITTT
Where are these streams taking place?
in the Yogscast's apartment/tower
1:05:32 when your girl sees you texting a bit too much lately
Guys we all know Lewis' steam now.
Let's get him.
Just kidding.
odd tile choice for a city!
Damn civ 6, suffers from the very same problems civ 5 vanilla suffered. Namely, not enough hammers.
Moves away from a city on a hill, an initial housing bonus, 1 Banana and 1 Stone as well as extending the range of 2 tiles that you want to be working ASAP just to get a district bonus later. Really not the best idea.
Lewis you should make it so whenever donates a big amount, change a city name to whatever they want!
