  • The rigor of your high school curriculum reveals your academic and intellectual vigor, and this matters a heck of a lot to admissions officers at highly selective colleges and universities.

How can homeschool students demonstrate rigor - is it primarily through outsourced online honors and AP courses and dual enrollment?

you could sign up for AP tests and self study for them , they take place in mid May

The stronger the homeschooled student, the more likely I am to recommend that he or she consider dual enrollment options (either in person or online) as long as they would not cause the student to be later considered a transfer applicant instead of a first-year applicant (unless that was a secondary goal) and online AP courses or taking May AP exams at a local school if the student feels he or she is prepared to do well on them (4s or 5s). Other options include online high schools with great rigor and/or corroborating the homeschool curriculum is strong simply by having the student score very well on the SAT or ACT. Is it ok to take a couple honors classes? I enjoy having a LIFE so I don’t want to take 6 APs, I’m more of a 3 kinda guy. I’m not taking 4 APs senior year that’s wack

Hey, I am an int std from Brazil (big fan btw). I dont have access to AP, IB diploma and was wondering about your views on SchoolHouse, the online plataform to be certified in calculus, statistics, algebra 2... Do you think it can be a substitute of AP and IB proficiency? (plus +1500 sat)

It's impossible for me to provide personalized guidance on TH-cam because of the many variables each student presents, but it's always a good idea to consider options to corroborate or demonstrate objective mastery. American colleges know that AP and IB are not offered everywhere. If there are subjects you want to take and could take, you can/should consider ways to learn that content outside of school and with reputable, accredited, and/or recognized organizations/platforms.
