I do the same thing in Cricut Design Space but it only takes 1 step. Add your font to the page bring in your design paper, place it over the word and slice. You don’t have to pay for Cricut or even have a Cricut to do this. I just thought it would be a good alternative for someone who has Cricut design space.
This was MORE than helpful! Thank you! This was by far the best explanation on how to do this. I can't believe Canva doesn't have a clipping feature. Thank you again!
thank you so much! ok I'll add some more canva videos. if theres ever something in canva youre stuck on you can also let me know and I can make a vid for that :)
Thank you for this. Never heard of Photopea before so this was a real eye opener. I was able to design a shirt, using graphics that until now had been beyond me, and list it for sale within minutes of watching this video. Thanks again. Subscribed.
Thanks Christina, this is just what I needed right now so thank you, Canva need to implement a way to add images/backgrounds into all fonts that can accept it. Is there a way that video can be added to text? Ideally I’d like to get a video of candles burning and then overlay them on to my business font which is on canva. Thanks again for this video and have a great week.
Thanks for this simple but very helpful tip! Qucik question: on your video cover page, the “like this” PNG has an outline…can you share more on this. I tried doing it with the tools in this vid but wasn’t successful. Thanks 😊
Do you have a video on how to convert a colored logo image to black and white outlines? So many people are asking me for this option and I can’t figure it out.
Great tip Thank you for this. Just what I needed at this time. Was trying to find a work around for a newb like me to put graphics or photos into the text. Found you through the interview you did with Cassiy.
Thanks so much! Very helpful on placing an image inside of the text. What if I want to do this but then also fill the outline of the text with a different picture? Is that possible to do? (I am trying to fill letters with one color of glitter and then the outline of that text is filled with another color glitter)
THANK YOU!!! Ive been trying to figure out how to do this no using the frame letters. But only question is do you know how to also add like a black or any colored outline to the text with the now image in it?
This was very helpful. this is what I was trying to do. I already know how to use elements and do a photo in to a photo. I wanted to do a photo in a font. I was testing out a theory in canva, but that wasn't working so it is good to know of another way for me to do this. Thanks.
Are you able to insert an image into a premade logo? Ex: I have a premade logo that's already typed out and a png file but would like to change the background to a glitter png. (hope that makes sense)
Thanks so much! Can you show us how to make a transparent outline on text? I know how to add a color outline, but Canva doesn't offer a transparent outline. As in the image you have in this video, the "Christmas" appears to have a slight transparent background. You don't want white showing as an outline on a black shirt. It needs to be transparent. Can you help with this? TIA
On canva, click the design, and then click edit photo button. Effects options should appear at the left side. Hit the shadows icon and then add an outline.
Hi. I followed your step by step and loved learning this. But….when I hit export png then I get stuck. A giant pic of my design comes on screen. Then I go into canva and it’s not there. So when I go to uploads it says it’s over 25mb and won’t upload. Help!!! No clue what to do!😞
Hello, when I am trying to drag the "plaid" element to align into the "M" frame, the plaid element is being placed on top of the M frame, rather than within. Is there a setting I need to adjust or am I not doing something that I should be to get the same result as you? Thanks!
Upon researching, the best answer I could find is that the plaid I used as a test wasn't masking into the "M" because it was a Graphic element and not a Photo element... LMK, thanks!
Thanks i have heard of photopea but never used it. 2 things on feedback 1 sometimes you must be too far away from the mic as your levels change and 2 when do we get a show on the keyboard? :P
What if ... the creators of Photopea were trying to make a play on words where they were saying that the experience of editing photos using their software was heavenly or perfect, almost as if you were living in a "Utopia". But for Photos. So a "Photo-pea" (foe-TOE-pee-uh). Maybe not foe-toe-PEE, or foe-toe-PEE-uh. What if that is what they meant to do. From a branding and marketing standpoint, that would be the most likely scenario, foe-TOE-pee-uh. Try it for a week, see how it sounds.
I started with saying it that way and everyone told me i was wrong LOL. half my comments are always mad at me saying things the wrong way and then I switch and then another group tells me im wrong! BUT to your point, that does make a lot of sense when they were coming up with the name!
I have been looking for this tutorial forever. Love how clear and to the point this video was!
Thank you so much! My mom can now sell shirts with images inside texts. We're gonna make ALOT of money. You are a true hero!

Thanks for the tip! Is it possible to add a black/white outline to each text letter?
But you can't export into a PNG file from Cricut
you are a life saver, I hope your pillow is always just right
That was much simpler than what i was doing withinh canva. It took alot if downloading , reuploading..etc. you broke it down to 3 steps thanks
This was EXACTLY what i've been looking for for months!! Thank you!! I wish Canva would make it a native option.
Glad it helped!
Fantastic! Many other videos on this topic but nothing so straightforward. Thank you!!
You're very welcome!
This was MORE than helpful! Thank you! This was by far the best explanation on how to do this. I can't believe Canva doesn't have a clipping feature. Thank you again!
You're very welcome!
Thank you. I have been doing this in Canva but now I can use whatever font I want.
You're welcome!
Thank you so much. You saved me. I can do this in DS but not for the life of me in canva. You have a new subscriber in me

Glad it helped!
Do you have a video on how to convert a colored logo image to black and white outlines? So many people are asking me for this option and I can’t figure it out.
Try using duotone on canva and setting some custom colors to white or black.
Aha! I was wondering how to do this. Thank you for this very helpful how-to! Happy Q4 to you:)
I am so happy it helped! Happy Q4 to you too! 😂❤️
Great video. BUT I CANNOT BELIEVE CANVA DOESNT HAVE A WAY TO INSERT PATTERNS IN LETTERS AND DIFFERENT FONT. IT JUST BLOWS MY MIND
Great tip Thank you for this. Just what I needed at this time. Was trying to find a work around for a newb like me to put graphics or photos into the text. Found you through the interview you did with Cassiy.
This was exactly what I was looking for thank you🙏

When I try to drop the png into Canva it says that the file’s been corrupted, how do I solve this issue? Very helpful video thank you!
Very well explained, Cheers!

You can add a white outline and then use a white background/image remover so the white parts will become transparent. :)
I'm getting into this as well! How is your POD coming as far as profit?
I love your work
You are SO helpful ♥️
Thanks for your video. Great info! 🤩

On canva, click the design, and then click edit photo button. Effects options should appear at the left side. Hit the shadows icon and then add an outline.

You Rock 🎸👏
Wow thank you!
Very good!
loved it
I tried dragging the element onto the frame and only pasted it on top of the frame! Could you tell what I am doing wrong? Thanks.
Hold it over the frame until it seems to lock in, sometimes it just hasn’t clicked yet
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!
Thank you so much ❤
You're welcome 😊
Is there a way to add a pattern inside an element versus in text?
It should be possible if the element has a solid color. Like a black silhouette. :)
Thanks! I figured it out! 🎉
Love!!!!!
Thank you!
Thank you so much
Thank you
Thank you soo much
Thanks i have heard of photopea but never used it. 2 things on feedback 1 sometimes you must be too far away from the mic as your levels change and 2 when do we get a show on the keyboard? :P
So Basically its not canva tutorial, its a photopea tutorial
🙏🏻❤️
I don't like that I'm having to go outside Canva to do designs like this that should honestly be native to Pro.
😘😘😘😘
