When I was a teenager watching this film, I thought Otter was just saying that as an excuse to party, and while that's definitely still true, Otter's right that the Principle had an agenda to get them and the fraternity out of the campus so they were screwed no matter what
The more I watch this movie (going on probably over 100 times and still counting!!) the more I realize that John Vernon absolutely chews up the scenery every moment he's on---Dean Wormer is the greatest comic villain of all time and it's all because of Vernon's performance!!
John Belushi was the best and funniest man there ever was. You can't diss his achievements just because of his drug use that ultimately killed him. HE WAS FUNNY AND AWESOME AT THE SAME TIME!!!
Me, my siblings, and neighborhood friends used to chant "toga! toga! toga!" whenever we were gonna have a good time and I never knew why until I saw this clip
I remember in highschool we had a dance that was toga themed. When it was announced I started chanting "toga, toga, toga..." But nobody joined in and I looked like a jackass. Apparently I was the only one who had seen this film.
This is one of those scenes you learn about long before ever seeing the movie .. I remember shouting "Toga! Toga!" with my friends in elementary school .. never knew about animal house til years later
Had one at my college in 1993, I was a freshman that year. No Animal House rowdiness or anything like that, just good music, crazy togas, and a TON of wild dancing!
I was kind of hoping Wormer would add (for dramatic effect) military service, and I'm going to recommend all of you for frontline infantry, full combat!....I loved this movie..
Hahaha the way the Wormer says "It Stinks!" and then the reaction from Hoover. Hahaha I lose it every time. Then the way he says "double secret probation." Actually, fuck it. Everything in this scene is funny.
I can't remember that how many time I've seen this movie couse it's always seems new and every time I see this movie fun gets double though I am not in college any more but it's always great
I love Otter's mannerisms. I love the way he bends down to Bluto's eye level and dips his voice like he's talking to an animal. Every character in this movie is the fun kind of gross
"There gonna nail us no matter what we do!" --Otter In Oct. 1978, John Belushi made the cover of 'Newsweek' magazine ("College Humor Comes Back") with him pictured with a vine on his head.

The way they hide the beers always makes me laugh.
Almost like a cop breaking up one of partys from back in the day
At least they didn't put the bottles in their pants upside down. The beer would have soaked them entirely.

Underrated actor for sure. He is brilliant in Charley Varrick
Honestly, he's more memorable a presence in this film than Belushi.

John Vernon was born to be Dean Wormer, I swear he is both intimidating and hilarious!
Superb acting here, how art imitates life- the hard asses verses the slackers...
2:21 Hearing that line brings me back to those old AMV Hell 3 videos, very nostalgic.
I remember seeing it at theater with my two best friends and one of there Dads. We used some of those lines for weeks in10th grade. Great movie!
