So, this particular video is one I've recorded several months ago, yet the time to release it never felt right up to now (with the number of announcements we got from RGG and subscriber milestones preceeding it). While Seong-hui has definitely gained appreciation from fans thanks to her unique design, people rarely talk about her character and general writing. So, to make up for that, here's an appreciation video for a lovely character, with an even lovelier seiyuu. Thank you for watching :) Link to Hana Takeda's TH-cam channel: www.youtube.com/@takedahana Link to her cover of Yoidore Shirazu/酔いどれ知らず: th-cam.com/video/MZaTqjRcbYM/w-d-xo.html
I was really bummed out she wasn't a party member, cause she screams important character. I really hope she becomes one in 8. And if she isn't, I hope she has more screen time cause she's awesome. And hot. Very hot.
I'd love it if you could someday make another video on Seonhee with the context of LAD8: Infinite Wealth, honestly one of my favorite new characters in the RGG verse
"You don't need a ton of screentime to make someone memorable or feel developed". > Gintama fan anticipating Takasugi's next move Yep that's pretty accurate.
Honestly, I would've liked Seong Hui more if the rest of the main party treated her with the same respect as Ichiban, Han, and Zhao. From the moment she's on screen, everyone is only focused on her appearance and the fact that she has a "bitchy personality," which is literally how they help Nanba escape from Geomijul, they make fun of her appearance until she bites and reveals she is somewhat materialistic. My sister put it best as she was watching me play through that part: "She's a beautiful woman, of course she's shallow and a bitch. Only ugly women don't care about their appearances." Saeko especially never lets up on that harassment, and Nanba and Adachi never really stop oggling her. It felt like the game wasn't treating her with respect at any point, only enhanced by going so far as to contrive Joon Gi Han back from the dead so he could be our party member instead of Seong Hui, the brand new and infinitely more interesting character. She also should've had a boss fight instead of Han. I know this series is still really weird about good guys never hitting women (except when they're trans, but that's a whole other thing), but wouldn't this reinvention of the series have been the perfect time to drop that antiquated practice and show us how powerful she is in battle? She already has a gun and a taser, two of Han's most distinctive moves in his arsenal. All in all, very cool character from the outset that I hope gets more of the spotlight for herself in 8 instead of Yeonsu Kim, because her treatment in this game left me very disappointed. I only hope they don't do the Yakuza sequel thing and just drop her from existence so they can focus on a new cast of side characters.
Yeeeah, I was half-expecting her to be the first female character the main cast throw hands in the series but nope, she sics her men on you instead. Given that the recent entries of RGG takes place in the near present, it would have made a lot sense that as time goes on, there will be *no* choice but to defend yourself against assailants regardless of their gender/sex. Or maybe some of the developers don't want female enemies getting brutalized in Heat Actions cutscenes that would make certain type of people come out of the woodwork.
@vikareus1257 I think a crucial next step to levelling the playing field for women in this series would be overhauling the job system. I was so disappointed when I finally got to change jobs in 7, and the men had seven cool, varied jobs to choose from in addition to their base class, and then Saeko gets four "girl jobs" that only further hammer in that these games are still somewhat catered to the type of player who wants any female characters to be sexualized at any opportunity. If Seong Hui was playable, I would just feel bad leveling her up in the Night Queen job after watching her in the cutscenes. I hope that in 8 Saeko gets to at least have as many job options as the guys, if not the same ones then more direct analogues, like the Hostess to the Host. Or at least more innately cool options like the matriarch.
Fr each time she was sending her men I was almost screaming "Fight me ! Come fight me !" . So disappointing that she has a gun and a taser yet doesn't use it in an actual fight like c'mon Also I didn't get it why Saeko was that pissed at her like she wasn't doing anything wrong or bitchy, at least to me when they met. All she did was "flirting" with Ichiban like c'mon. Now that I think of it I don't remember any of the party members dogging on Zhao like they did on Seong-Hui and arguably Zhao was more bitchy imo.
@aikotitilai3820 if I had to guess, it's probably a remnant of when Saeko was more explicitly the romantic interest for Ichiban instead of a full party member. As it is now, she flirts with the whole party pretty equally, so it doesn't make sense that she would be so touchy about someone else flirting with Ichiban unless it was written with him being her man in mind. As for Zhao, him being a party member at all feels like a decision that happened pretty late in development. It probably wasn't, but him being a party member only for the last third of the game, his friendship events being used to tie up the Mabuchi loose end, and especially the whole party just deciding he's their friend after trying to convince Ichiban to leave him to die in the coup, all give that impression. He and Han don't really do anything plot relevant after they get added to the party anyway, besides having information Ichiban wouldn't have otherwise, so their inclusion at all is really awkward.
Seonhee and Joongi Han are definitely welcome additions and my new favourite characters to the new Yakuza Like a Dragon series and it was so great to see them back in Infinite Wealth I’m really hoping they’ll be back in the third instalment of the Like a Dragon series. It won’t be the same without them.
Are there any other Analysis of LAD7? Seong-Hui/Seonhee should have been in LAD7. Additionally, I'm sure there were other characters that should/would have been great if playable.

One of the more beautiful ladies in the Yakuza series. Great design and I do hope she'll be playable in Y8
Your wish was granted
Yakuza grunts : 👹
Yakuza leaders : 🥰
Well she isn't a yakuza leader, may i correct it to mafia instead?

Completely agree. Best party member imo.

Yep that's pretty accurate.
He's probably the best example of that in anime/manga. Fantastic character 🙌
She will finally be playable in the upcoming game!! So stoked!
This is a very distinguished video.

A no-nonsense, badass Korean woman? Better send her to America!

Honestly wish she had a boss fight. But at least she's playable in 8.
shes playable in lad 8
Seong-hui my beloved
That Kanaria song Cover drop was the *last* thing I was expecting in a Yakuza related video
Here's hoping Kson can get a Collab with her
So glad she's coming back and joining the party this time! 🤩💖🔥
Seong hui is best next to akame
She should have been a playable character
I just hope they don't switch Joon-gi Han with her as the Jingweon representant party member
Joon-gi Han is going to be on Ichiban's party, and Seong-Hui in Kiryu's party.
😫please i want her to be in the maingroup in 8
why didn't you link the yt channel of the voice actress? cool video though :)
It's in the top comment. Check it out 👍
oh thanks, didn't see it :D @@gokudoni

Seong hui did nothing for me. She just was so uninteresting to me
