Right off the bat, I have never related with a "That's Dope" episode as much as this one. As soon as you said "Lets do something dark" I was hooked. That 4 bar piano loop is so simple yet so nasty. I love what you did with the synth bass because that single note adds texture to the beat. I've been struggling with adding something different to the beat so its not too repetitive while still holding the integrity of the melody, that switch up at the second half of the verse did a job well done. Changing up the high hat pattern so it sounds different every 16 bars definitely helps with the beat not being to repetitive. THIS is the "That's Dope" episode I needed to prove to me that you are THE man. I'd love to see more crisp sounding piano beats. I'm looking forward to testing out that new piano.

How do you know what tempo to use when making a beat? I’ll start making a melody but when I put the tempo on it kind of throws me off. Need help on that!
Oh ok. What I would do is make sure the 808 lines up with the C note on a piano. Load up a piano, hit the Middle C note and then play with the tuning on the 808 until it matches. Now whatever key you hit with the 808 will follow everything else.
@@ninoblack3772 I don't have expansions I use. All the sounds are just the presets that come standard with it but I do make sounds by combining different patches at times.
You don’t need school for that. Use that money for something else like promoting yourself after you learn from TH-cam university lol Consume as much information as you can and practice. Hands on experience is going to be the best teacher when it comes to audio.

Battery 4. It’s just a regular 808 sample with some distortion added to make it cut thru the mix.

Try some at 130, 140, 150. Those are all pretty popular tempos.
I’m new to using Pro Tools. I’ve been using GarageBand for awhile and switching to Pro Tools seems like a lot.
It’s a slight learning curve coming from garage band but it’s worth it.
