It's definitely the right time of year around here! Next video is going to be on using acorns in recipes for crackers, cookies, and beef stew. Check it out if you like. have a great day!
Hello 👋 quick ? If you dehydrate the acorns in the shell for future use should you put them in a vented basket? I was thinking of shelling them and vacuum packaging them . Would this work? Any input would be appreciated. Have a good day 😊
Hello there! Yes, I think that vacuum packing would work. As long as they are sealed up and moisture can’t enter that should be fine. Then they would be ready to use faster. It’s a good plan!
Love your video. Do you only save the liquid from your final pour for the acorn milk. Looking forward to your recipes on how to use them. Have a great day 🍁🍂🌻
Thanks for the comment, yes I only save the milk from the last couple of pours. Otherwise there is too much tannin and it's bitter tasting. Btw, the recipe video is up, we make cracker, cookies and beef stew with the acorns. Check out the book Acorn Foraging if you are really interested, she's got LOTS of great recipes!
How I store the flour really depends on when I am planning on using it. Either in the fridge or vacuum seal it and put in the freezer. You could definitely use a mortar and pestle, that's the way they started! It would take time and muscle but definitely possible. Have a great day!
We were just talking about acorns, so thank you for this post

@@idamandahomestead4221 Many thanks for getting back to me. Take care and have a great evening 🍁🍂🌻
How do you store the finished flour? Can you use a mortar and pestle to grind the acorn flour after processing?
