The factors you described helped me a lot. My office is in engineering but in a factory, so it’s hot and icky downstairs and cool and ‘more professional’ upstairs where I am. My only real sore spot now tho is shoes...what shoes to wear upstairs, having to climb multiple flights and also go through the factory ‘visitor walk ways’. I’m going with loafers or wedges..but I’m hoping for other options bc these are getting depressing(and wearing out my few ‘acceptable’ shoes lol).
This was really enlightening for me, Julie. Knowing that the definition of business casual depends on the organizational culture helps put things into context. Please do a video on how to coordinate outfits for work. Thanks!
This is by far the best, most complete description I’ve seen💗 I started temping in the engineering dept of a factory that’s “business casual”... I could cry it’s so hard😭 I worked in a formal office forever, so I have a lot of dress clothes that need heels bc of the inseam....now all I can wear that doesn’t drag or look sloppy are khakis or capris. I hate khakis beyond words...so hideous. Ur style tips gave me some good ideas to work my wardrobe into something wearable for the next few months that won’t make me constantly sad. Love love love ur content!!!!💗💐
A big thank you for explaining the experiences and details, the tips were helpful. Starting a new job is nervousing enough why get hung up on what to wear?
Great tips. I used to work (before covid) in an engineering company. We were able to wear business casual. I worked in Mississauga, Ontario Canada and our winters are freezing and our summers are boiling. During the winter the office was extra hot and during the summer the office was air conditioned to cold. Therefore we had to dress for summer during the winter and winter during the summer. And we would either freeze or sweat going to and from work.
Great video! My whole wardrobe is very feminine and elegant - and I need to find some feminine pieces suitable for business casual as well, without feeling too masculine.
Business casual is even more confusing in Florida! Longer pants are a must but it is way to hot and uncomfortable to wear long sleeve shirts with those pants 💯
Thanks for watching! What was the MOST USEFUL thing you learned about dressing for the business casual dress code?

I'm glad I found this. I am starting my first job needing business casual and I'm 40 and was freaking out
So helpful! It seems a lot of business has lost what business casual actually means.
