During 1970-75 I was posted at HQ,DGMS,Dhanbad. During lunch period,except for a few officers all the persons went to their quarters for lunch. I developed friendship with late Shri D V S N Rao,SLO who was also not going to his bungalow (although his bungalow was in close vicinity of office).His peon brought snacks and tea during lunch,which I shared with him regularly. He used to tell interesting incidents. He told that Shri Ganapati Muni was his relative and used to some times visit their place,once he regaled the children by converting a copper coin into a Gold coin. At that time I was not aware of his greatness,learnt much about him through Mountain Path magazine.
Sir, As per a Publication of Sri Ramanashram,Tiruvannamalai.1....He was an erudite scholar and given the Title Kavya Kantha.He had his own disciples as well.He was doing Sadhana,but not satisfied. He got information about Sr Raman Maharshi of Tiruvannamalai from some acquaintance and proceeded for his Darshan. At that time Maharshi was living on the hill in a cave. On seeing him, Ganapat Muni was convinced that Maharshi was the person who could push him forward in real Sadhana. He accepted Maharsi as Guru and practiced Self Enquiry as advised by him. 2. Once Ganapat Muni was doing Tapas at Tiruvottur. At that time Maharshi went in Astral body through Space to give Darshan & Bless Ganapati Muni. This was confirmed both by the Muni and Maharshi.,subsequently. 3. Ganapati Muni was not doing any Yoga Practices, still he had ' Kapal Bheda ', wherein the Skull cracks/ breaks at the location of Bramarandhra. This was unique, which normally happens at the time of death of Yogis; as in the case of father of founder of Gita Press ,Gorakhpur etc. The Muni was alive for 2 years or so even after Kapal Bheda; he was a house holder.
