I cannot understand how one can be Architect without being hands on technologist. Especially, when we are talking about digital transformation. One of the responsibly of the Architect which this panel did not mention is to make sure an architectural intend is being followed. And that requires not only being superb technologist but, willing to (enjoying it would be better word) to stay in the "weeds" at the same time. In practice this means reviewing the code , engaging with dev/engineering team members. Enterprise Architect is a bridging role between IT and Business. Therefore, a true Architect has to be superb on both domain in order to build a solid bridge.
Great conversation in EA. Nice perspectives of the panel.
