Unfortunately, I grew up with an absentee father and abusive mother. I had no frame of reference for “good parents”; until I started watching this show. No matter how bad things got or how angry Ma was, she was always loving, patient, understanding, and forgiving to her children. That’s a good mother.
The one episode where Albert gets into trouble for something and Pa stands there so proudly and says “I’ll assume responsibility for my son”, had me in tears. He adopted Albert, a boy he didn’t even know, and made him an equal child in his heart. That’s a good father, a good man.
This is the parenting I try to emulate. My 2 kids are grown, college graduates, leading happy successful lives and my husband and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this year.
I wonder if the cast knows how much this show meant to kids.

Two best parts are when Half-pint punches Nellie in the nose and when Pa agrees with Mr Olsen that he’s the richest man in Walnut Grove “I know I am” almost crying. 💜 Mary taking the test and losing is my second favorite. Still one of my favourite series. I have so many favourites: love when Mary meets Adam at the blind school, when Laura is at Almanzo's house after fighting with Nellie and Charles' punches Almanzo thinking something unseemly was taking place, when Charles falls and then cannot finish the order he promised so the whole town moves the grain for him, when Miss Beadle meets her husband, the pig farmer, and Nellie almost marries his son, anything with the Olesons, Nellie hating her restaurant, then meeting Percival. I could go on and on and on. This was my dad's favourite show as well. He's been gone 2 years and I can still remember watching it in the 70s with him.🥰

For those who think they can't find time in their day to exercise, just do what I do, if you're able to & if it makes sense for you: make your tv time your exercise time. For those like me who don't watch much tv but have something like nightly national news that we tune into, there's a person's 20-30 minutes of daily exercise right there. Exercising while watching something you would've tuned into anyways makes the exercise go by in a flash.

One day I go there and visit places where they played. Because the place is about 25 minutes from my home in CA. I plan to write the stories for a movie to be made at the same position with all the same builds designed of the Little House on the Prairie. I would purchase this place and rebuild the same builds like church, Mrs. Olsen's store, etc including the little house of Charles and Caroline, etc....that would be fun to see them back on the same lands....:) I am working on that... Im 58 now so i grew up with the show. Thank for a great show and giving us good things to watch. We don't have anything like it anymore. Its sad. Children today jave nothing to watch in the evening with their family. Nothing put FBI, CSI killing and investing shows. Or some so called Reality show. Thanks again 🙏

The audience did not like it that Doc Baker and Kate did not get married. They loved each other and she was willing until he talked her out of it. In those days there were many older grooms with younger brides.

I watch this show to make me have peace from the craziness going on in the world. Wish our world was like the community in Walnut Grove. My favorite episode is the one where charles gets into it with Harriet over their bill at the store and the kids, the mom pull together to work and pay off the debt. I love also the one where Charles breaks his ribs, his daughters doing the work and the whole community comes and gets it done. Love how Almonzo is dressed like he's in Little House on the Prairie. I miss Michael Landon and the guy who played Mr. Olsen, he was soo fun to watch with Harriet.

Some of my favorites: The Blizzard, Bunny, the episode when the kids thought Mr. Oleson chopped of Mrs. Oleson’s head, the episode when Carolyn scratches her leg on something and it got infected, the episode when some kind of epidemic hit the town, the episode with the drought and all the town kids helped pregnant Laura save her orchard, the episode when Mary went to visit John Jr., who was away at college, and she finds out he’s been cheating on her.

I watched this show as if me and Laura were sisters and just lived far away from each other. I was 6-7 when it first ran. I wanted my hair in braids like Lauras and my mom even bought me a bonnet. I loved all of them, especially when Laura and Albert were young and teaching Nellie a lesson. But most endearing was when Laura ran away from home after the Ingalls lost their newborn son. I cried when you cried, laughed when you laughed. Truly my kindred spirit on tv xoxo

I have the entire series on blu-ray. I watch it all the time. I cry at 98% of the episodes. Since this show finished and is now only in re-runs, Television just has not been the same. I cried like a baby when I saw the last episode where they blew up the sets and said goodbye to their beloved town. There will never be a show to equal Little House On The Prairie. It's a one of a kind show. I don't think Michael Landon would realize during his lifetime what a jem of a series he had on his hands and what a lasting impact this show would make on so many people. R.I.P. Michael Landon. You will never be forgotten.

Cynthia Nolder ~ Yes! I didn’t like that aspect of the show, especially in the least couple of seasons. Seems they were pushing it just a little too far. Mary’s characterisation really went off the deep end. I would have much preferred “seeing” her more as she really lived, rather than a fantastical bionic blind Wonder Woman heroine.
