Definitely a video game character. But if you haven't ever before look up the anime Major and Ohtani is literally Goro Shigeno. He's the real life version of that anime character.
@@raikoafm702 No! There's NO maga character was created as a Professional Two-way player in Japan or MLB inside ANY Japanese anime or comics before Shohei Ohtani appeared in NPB and MLB. You probably didn't watch or read the "Major" anime and comic books yourself! The main character, Goro Shigero, was NEVER a two-way player in any professional baseball level! Goro was playing two-way only in his school years, mainly in the little league and middle school (Goro quitted high school then and went to the US). However, Goro was only working as a full time pitcher in major from 19 year-old till he got serious shoulder injury and got fired at 32. Then Goro returned to Japan, at the end of the series 1 Major, Goro at 33/34 started to take a try held by the NPB as hitter in Japanese professional and hoped to be chosen as a hitter trainee. Goro has a successful pitcher career in major but he was Never ever a two-way player in any Professional level including Japan!
@SL Leung Never said Goro played both ways at any point. They just have very similar characteristics, including Goro losing his Cap during pitching, Except for Ohtani its his helmet.
@@raikoafm702 No, at the end of Major 1, Goro was going for a try to be a trainee hitter as I said in last comment. However, Goro was never a two-way professional player, so there's absolutely NO comparison to Shohei Ohtani who is the only QUALIFIED two-way player in both pitching and hitting of NPB and MLB (besides Shohei is the ALMVP and a very good pitcher in 2021 while he became the 4th best pitcher and 4th best hitter in MLB in 2022). Goro was never a two-way in both pitching and hitting at professional level. Goro is actually like many high school or university baseball players in United States, many outstanding students played two-way upto high school or university level before they had to choose either pitching or hitting in professional baseball. Goro was even a far lower level of two-way player in school days because he only played two-way in little league and middle school (high school for less than 2 years). If you think Goro is special, it's just because you didn't know many MLB players were two-way players in their school days or even played two sports at the same year (not two-way in baseball but as formal members for baseball and another sports such as football or basketball etc. ).
That Japanese team is packed with talent but Shohei is the best player in the world and it’s not even close. He’s an OMG machine, especially at the plate. He’s Clemens and Bonds combined, but without the steroids or the chip on the shoulder. He’s what the Babe might have been if he’d lifted weights instead of beers and hot dogs.
