  • We travel to Yuma, Arizona, for four days so that Joanne can get major dental work done in Los Algodones, Baja California, Mexico.
We were very happy with Sani Dental Group - sanidentalgrou...
    ‎@sanidentalalgdones3005
We learned about them from ‎@thewanderingshores
    Important things to know:
    - Parking at the border is $6 for the day
    - Overnight parking is available
    - Border hours were 6am to 10pm (subject to change without notice
    - Passport required for re-entry into USA
    - We took our dog and carried his rabies certificate, but no one ever asked for it.
    - There is a hotel next door to Sani that does allow you to bring your dog. We didn't stay there.
    - Most people in Los Algodones speak English pretty well.
    - If you need transportation, they have a shuttle service that will pick you up at the border.
    - It seemed very safe to us, but we were advised to not be on the street after dark.
    - Just like anywhere, use common sense. Getting drunk is not a good idea.

Great! It was about $4000 for everything. That included the partial, three root canals, and 4 crowns.

You never thought about getting implants instead of that partial ? They’re not that much in Mexico

      @parkininparadise  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Good question! Yes, I considered them. There's a higher risk of infection with implants, and in my case, they would have to do a prep that requires 6 months to heal before doing the implant. It just wasn't the best choice for me, but it might be for other people.

The two of you are amazing.. Thank you so much for the shout-out. So glad that your experience was so positive just like ours. We have gone for dental the last two years and will actually be going over for optical next month too, always felt safe and had a great work done. You are so right about the border crossing, we have waited 2 min or 2 hours. Our friend went over last year and had to wait almost 3 hours to crossback to the USA. So glad to see you doing so well.- Kyle and Michelle

Thanks! Have you picked an optical place yet? We met a gentleman, Havier Ortega, who recommended Northwest Optical. He said they have excellent equipment. But, we don't have any first-hand experience with them.

@@parkininparadise Thanks I'll check them out. Our friends used Castle Optical and said they are great and the google reviews seem to say the same thing.

Sani Dental is great. Had work done there last week. I stayed in Los Algodones while the work was being done.

I have a trip planned to SoCal in May. Ironically yesterday a good sized piece broke off a molar. 😪 One good thing is that there's no pain, no swelling or discomfort (yet). I'll see my local dentist tomorrow here in the US but as he seems to always recommend the most expensive option I'm expecting a huge bill. I'll tell him that I'll hold off for a bit which will give me time to get to Los Algodones to get things fixed up without having to second mortgage the house👊🏻 👍🏼

The arrogance of our dentist is unstoppable… unless we start finding the capable, helpful, respectful, kind dentist in Mexico. They EARN their living by providing a service, our dentists are scalping people …

Here's the link to the ABNB where we stayed. Keep in mind that it was cheaper for us because it was the week between Christmas and New Years.
