Those 4% to 10% of patients whose BD IPMN’s were resected, did they have worrisome features to begin with or not? Also the feature of having 4 plus IPMNs and the associated malignancy…is this relevant if the patient does not otherwise have worrisome features? Also at 9:27, those 52 patients with 4 plus cysts, did they otherwise show worrisome features, why did they have surgery ? The report mentions incidental BD IPMNs in asymptomatic patients….and 90% of incidental cysts are less than 3 cm in size which means they didn’t have the criteria for worrisome feature but yet 4% to 10% have been found to have concurrent pancreatic ductal carcinoma?
I had a diagnosis of a neoplasm in my pancreas duct. Two different gastroenterologists wanted to do a Whipple on me. The main g.i. doctor said I will outlive the neoplasm. He put neoplasm on the report which drove the other 2 doctors crazy...so to speak. Now I let neither G.I. doctors touch me. It's been almost 4 years. I have trouble with digestion. Nothing helps. I also have a viable fear of G.I. doctors. I used to be a scrub tech and my husband is a LVN. So we don't panic easily. We also did each 20 years in the military. Quite a condrum.
