An innocent sketch becomes a reality when a simple door drawn on a factory wall opens into a world that proves too tempting for children.
Slowly the children disappear one by one into the darkness; a place unseen by the adults who begin an aimless search for their missing.
The Chalk Door depicts a town without children, suddenly without purpose or a future to shape it. It explores the journey of the missing children suddenly without guardians to lead them through the challenges of an unknown and mystifying landscape.
The Calk Door is a tale of discovery and hidden meaning, fantasy and stark reality, where fears are faced, conquered and victorious.
Inspired by images from the illustrator Shaun Tan Highly Sprung professional performers team up with a troupe of young performers to present a piece of physical theatre that promises to be thought provoking, highly energetic and visually unforgettable.
Stunning visual design and thrilling physical performance combine to plunge audiences into a world where anything is possible and everything is impossible.
Highly Sprung Performance Co. are celebrating their tenth year in 2009. This performance represents the companys ongoing commitment to developing high quality and alternative performance opportunities for children and young people of all ages.
