Fun fact: the presets weren’t made by luni expect for a few. They were entered in a contest when Gacha was being beta tested, you could make an oc, and if you won you’d see your oc in presets.
The presets like Mumble And Kinen in Gacha life are based of off real people, kinen is an artist and so is Mumble, but mumble is shachimu’s oc, she makes animation memes on TH-cam and used to be a vtuber.
Edit: for the people that say they thought everyone knew, I wrote this because a lot gachatubers think luni made em all.

@@lunafoxplay5632 well kind of.. though they use LIVE2D (not live2d for animating, it’s original purpose was for vtubers) bassicly, they have a 3D or 2D Avatar that tracks their face (and sometimes full body.) they also have lore to their characters.

honestly i never knew people did this, i just re-use every single of my old oc ideas then use them for my newer ones, or i just look for a character from a show then base the oc off of them
i can relate to this a lot because I have a friend that is clueless of how to make a gacha oc by their own style. She would click a preset and then just adjust the accessories to how she likes and call it a finished oc. (Btw she made ocs about me and my friends too)

Well there are people who dont really have a style. People who can just go with anything because nothing really fits them. People like that typically have MANY interests that dont seem to match up. They're very interesting but it's sad sometimes because its easy to feel like you dont know yourself or like you dont belong. Just go easy on your friend kk?
Tbh, to make my oc's, I just get hair from a present, and clothing from a different one. Then I edit it so I like it more. But if I need to make a character for something, then I do it myself.

I do it for fun with a mix of like 70 ocs
Fun fact: my main oc is actually inspired from a preset! They are different, but you can tell they are similar. Gender switched, clothes switched, adjustments, the only thing really similar is probably the color scheme, but I added some pink and took away the yellow. It's okay to use presets to make ocs, as long as they aren't an exact copy!

There are three types of gacha characters:
The one with too much adjustments and are very exaggerated
The simple one (not too much adjustments and simple clothes)
The one who is obviously another already made character, but with a very few changes
I make simple characters and I still struggle to make a simple character, trying to not put too much bright colours or exaggerated clothes :')
I normally recreate presets ;u; but mainly I like the simple ocs and neon ocs

Ok I'll be honest... I use the second method some times when I don't wanna take an hour to make a oc by scratch, BUT I mix and match 2-3 presets together then I use my own oc making skills and make that oc 😎

Granted, this is how every new Gacha player starts out making OCs. I started out this way too, taking a preset and builiding off that. Not to take credit, but because I didnt know how to make good OCs back then.

Not me, but my first oc was in gacha life, I used a preset. I didn't know how to change the colours, also the first time I played gacha was when my cousin told me to make a character, so that was when I made my first character in gacha life, years ago ^v^

I always set my characters to the preset "Fill-in" before actually making it.
same, i used to use "Mannequin" but its flying and the background is somewhere in the middle so now i use fill-in

I actually used to do this a lot. It really helped me improve my oc designs but I still do this from time to time for fun :)
I've done that before, usually because I think an outfit/shirt is cool but wanna change the oc itself to match my style. There's some really cute outfits in the presents if you look hard enough :]

I always start with the default boy when i am making oc's bc it is like a nice fresh canvas to work with.

My first gacha OC’s were literally ayu (looking identical) and Phantom with different clothes! I barely changed anything! But later on my characters looked a lot better but sometimes I do steal presets colour schemes ;)

I mean sometimes that's how I did it, but like I just use it as a base and then create another character that's completely different.
It helps me come up with ideas if I don't have motivation to come up oc's on my own that's what the presets are really meant for if you really think about it 😂

When I am bored, I take a preset and just copy the hair, clothes, etc from other presets. I change the color scheme at the end, BOOM! Totally OC made.
I used to do that, they werent even good ocs lol but I have learned and started making original stuff
there's a blank-o-person oc in the all-stars section I use it because it looks like a mannequin then I change it into an oc bec I cannot make an oc with the default one on bec it has all this hair and clothes already set which is too distracting for me and I'm too lazy to go through and ger rid of it when there's already an oc like that in presets lol

fun fact, this profile picture is actually a redesign I did for the Emmy preset. I love the preset it’s beautiful, but the sheer white on black contrast actually hurt my eyes. I wanted to also try and do something creative with the character and I got this and I genuinely like it. I didn’t even use any adjustments for it so it’s definitely one of my favorite characters I have made without adjustments.
Lets be honest the phsychopath way is tje superior way. The present are there for a reson and it helps when you need inspiration or themes ❤

I use presets as inspiration but by the end every single thing is different (for example I used a preppy looking unicorn wearing mostly blue into a retro time-themed demon with cotton candy colors)

I basically do both. I go to cosplay and click the next arrow until you find a mannequin AKA ( all white no face ) Then my style of gacha is tall skinny:> then i adjust EVERY PART OF IT including eyes and mouth cause who doesn’t? and ya that’s my secret:)

I do it, I make the ocs into my style, dull the colors and then make a ibis paint edit of them and delete the oc--
I do this when I first started GC because I have a serious problem, I can't stand looking at the default characters, I either have to make a mannequin or use a plain looking base (Aka someone's presets)
But after a while I made Ocs that satisfied me, so I used them as base.

Change 1 preset- that's fine
Change 2 preset- that's enough
Change 100 presets- that's plagiarizer

I have a hard time visualizing the character I want to make without a base… I go to the presets and find a character that matches the kind of OC I wanna make and then completely change it up sometimes keeping an accessory or the eye shape…
Other than that I completely change it where not even the color palette matches the base preset…

Nah your okay I always use the presets! I just kind of invision what I want my OC to look like then take that preset and change it till it's completely different with little to no similarities.
Though it does kinda hurt reading other comments that say things like:
