The Umpqua Series - This River is Gorgeous and FULL of Fish

- Part 3 of the Umpqua Series and it was the start of our 2nd day on the Umpqua River in Southern Oregon. We hopped on our Feelfree Kayaks down 1 guy, who had flipped and lost all his gear the day before (Sorry Mike!). We slowed things down on day 2 and really picked apart some areas. We each easily caught 80+ fish this day, here are a few of them.
This river is gorgeous and full of fish, easily one of my favorite spots I have ever fished.

One of my all time favorite smallmouth fisheries. Roseburg is a great town.
We fish from 1 man pontoons and come August it's not uncommon to catch 80-100 smallies in a 5 hour float, we mainly use various Roboworms.
That river is full of gold!
I've heard that, next time I'll bring a pan with me!

I live on this river and fish it year round, while the bass are fun to catch they have torn up the ecosystem pretty bad. Our salmon and steelhead runs are really low, because the bass eat the smolts and eggs.
You are correct I caught a 1lb bass and it spit up 8 smolts, I wacked it in the head and fed it to an Osprey!
I have a few questions... how did you get a camera on a bird and then have it come back to you.. lol... DRONE!!!!! Great series of vids man.

those were some pretty fish, sorry to hear about your buddy dumping his yak and losing all his gear. this is why im always warning you to put pieces pof pool noodles on your stuff so you dont have a repeat of what happened last year. ^.^

looks like that section of the river is wider and slower than the first float, also looks like better quality fish.
This section was in day 1 part 1 but we didn't rush through it. We took the same amount of time to float has as much river. Thanks for watching, hope all is well in your neck of the woods!
