having worked on several episodic tv shows and feature movies I can honestly say that a well managed set is a joy. when everyone knows their job and it all flows together it's so wonderful to be in that energy.
Well, also how stupid we've been in our lack of acceptance of the facts even before our need for a response to covid ... such as the fact that viruses and resistant bacteria usually arise from our intense animal agricultural industry, which is the only way to feed our overpopulated people the massive amounts of unnecessary meat they demand ... and that almost all of them won't accept plant based eating when the science shows it's so much healthier ... On second thought, none of it's surprising, just sad.
Mine too! It was ER and the Mists of Avalon for me (tried to name my kid Morgaine but got vetoed). I am ashamed to say I didn’t really get into the later shows but only because I have no time.
She is almost a full decade older than me and she STILL looks like a gorgeous, stunning, fresh from a field of wildflowers faerie princess and I look like a bridge troll. 😂
I think her set etiquette is a good basis for all employment: 1) Be on time 2) Know your lines (job duties) 3) Don't complain. My caveat is complain only to the people who can make a change, not coworkers who will chime into the chorus and poison the team. Also, have a recommendation on remedying the problem.
The Hot Zone was the scariest book I've ever read. I've kept 4 bottles of chlorine bleach in my cupboard since. I was ready for co vid. I have 4 cats (5 litter boxes), so had the gloves and hazmat suit at the ready. LOL
My father could have used advice on set etiquette. He got cast as an extra as an extra in a birthday party scene. A plate of cake and ice cream was placed in front of him and they started adjusting the set lighting. After a while, the ice cream started to melt, so he ate it. They gave him another plate and said “you can’t eat until the director says action!” They went back to setting the lights, and his ice cream started to melt… so he ate it. He was never an extra again.
Yes. She was great in The Sopranos. I never thought a show about psychopaths could be so compelling but Tony Soprano, a coward and murderer, was one of the scariest, sexiest guys ever. Wouldn't want him for a neighbor, a boss, a husband or a customer but he was sexy.

3:19 Steven hears you, audience member who thought he was making a suicide joke. He sees you, and wonders why you'd think he'd make such a terrible joke.
She is right about the collaboration aspect in the theater and movie arts. Not to be to Zen here but that can be applied universally. A fifty year marriage,2 hour movie, a 90 minute stage play,a 1 hour music album or a 3 minute pop song are tips of the iceberg. Depending on the scope and budget that 2 hour movie took dozens of people working hundreds of hours for 12-24 months who aren’t even IN the movie. Anyone performing a craft or artistry on a professional level has several thousand hours of serious practice and rehearsal that are not in that 2 hours. That’s the bottom of the iceberg. Unseen by most often unappreciated.
Actually Laurie Garret in her 1994 book "The Coming Plague" predicted the precise situation, detailed what govt's response should do and the past 2 yrs the world failed to do what she said needed to be done.
You can tell when he has no interest in or doesn't have a clue about what his guests do or who they are. Train-wrecks include but not limited to an interview with Rob McElhenny from IASIP. Painful to watch
There Is No Shortage of Energy; There Is Shortage of Normalcy Despite increased production of energy from renewable sources, and despite the slowdown in car manufacturing, oil prices are skyrocketing. Even though fewer power plants still burn coal, coal prices are skyrocketing, as well. Natural gas prices, too, are going through the roof, and energy demand seems to outpace supply in every country and in every form of energy. Have Earth’s energy sources dwindled so drastically in a matter of months? The answer is a resounding “No!” There is no shortage of energy; there is a serious shortage of normalcy in human relations. I hope the current crisis will put some sense into humanity’s insane consumption. The energy crunch indicates that we are over consuming. We are producing too much, throwing the excess production to the trash, polluting the ground, the air, and the water, and then we are complaining that we do not have enough. It is about as sane as killing one’s parents and then pleading for the court’s mercy because I’ve recently been orphaned. It is time we reconsider everything we produce-how we divide production, profits, and goods, which services are necessary and which are redundant, and most importantly, how we treat one another. The goal of this process should be clear to everyone: survival. There is no ulterior motive, no attempt to dominate or deprive anyone of power or wealth. It is simply that reality is forcing us to take all of humanity and the entire planet into consideration. If we don’t, our entire civilization will collapse like a deck of cards. Since we still do not understand it and insist on running things the way we have always been running them-through power games-I anticipate a very cold and gloomy winter for the northern hemisphere. The energy crunch will leave many in dark and cold houses; there will be no gas for cars, and renewable energy will not replace traditional sources since there will be little sun during the winter. I hope that at least, it will make us rethink our values. If it doesn’t, next summer will be even worse than the awful summer that just ended. I know that many people are counting on the promise of renewable energy to solve the energy problems of humanity. I think they are mistaken. There is plenty of energy, far more than we really need. We could cut emissions by at least half tomorrow. But the more we have, the hungrier we become, so our thirst for energy will never be satiated, and we will never stop exploiting the planet or each other until we reeducate ourselves and start being humane toward each other. We have been behaving like spoiled brats whose parents buy them whatever they want. Now, our parents have run out of money and our childhood is over. It is time for us to mature and conduct ourselves like responsible adults, caring for all of humanity the way a mother cares for her entire family. If we think like a family, we will achieve normalcy.
Yikes! Way to cut off just as she hits the culmination of her story. Sure, the audience was flat but I'm sure a bit of discussion would have shed more light. Oh well. I knew it was coming. I just thought it would be worse. Now here's a heads-up for you. We are going to have to expand our definition of what a human is because what's coming next will be considered a threat to most.
That IS a stupid statement. Of COURSE we knew it was coming !!
