    Really appreciate your demonstration of your process! Focusing for rounded stars, moving the mount slowly, are great tips. Playing with histogram. I've downloaded Sharpcap and played with the test cameras. Waiting for descent weather to try with the camera live!
    Is Sharpcaps focusing tool as good as using a bahtinov mask?
    I'm still a visual guy, but am enjoying what i can do with live images. Thank you!

      Glad it was helpful! Yes, the Sharpcap focusing tools should get you as good a focus as a bahtinov mask.

    That was interesting. I use my son's Nikon with either my 150 Newtonian at 1/12th wave, so it is pretty sharp and F-5 for DSOs. For planetary I use a Canon 150 on video and my Luminos 2" 2.5x four element Barlow with a 1.25" 13mm TV DeLite at 137x in my 102 triplet. I have a Celestron digital camera adaptor that I can put my shoot and go camera or a telephone camera on and choice of eyepieces. If conditions are good I can zoom in too higher magnification, but usually I keep it under 150x. Then put it in AutoStakkert and play around. I've cranked it up to 300x on double/quadruple stars though for differing colors.
    Seeing conditions here can be exceptional after a rain gets the dust out of the air. Just the other night I wasn't planning to setup, but I looked at the Pleiades with my 8x50 binoculars and there was zero distortion, none of the stars were twinkling so I setup on Saturn dropping low and got a good video of it. Then looked at the Moon with no shimmering until I got up to 150x and that was likely the wind, as it turned to the Moon and the wind was hitting the scope from the side.
    How much is that camera you're using?

      The camera is the 224mc. Used you can get them for around $125. New they are around $200.

      @@AVTAstro That's not bad, I presume they'll work with a tablet as well?

    • @AVTAstro
      @AVTAstro  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, not with Sharpcap. To make it work with a tablet you will need an Asiair.

      @@AVTAstro Vlad, will it work with an old Windows 7 laptop? My grandson never converted it to Windows 10.

    I do quite a lot of EAA and planetary imaging. I have Sharpcap controlling my mount and it also now has plate solving. Makes finding targets with a smaller sensor a piece of cake.

      @AVTAstro  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup, if you have a wide enough FOV plate solving is amazing! Running an SCR at f/10 with a small sensor size does not play well with plate solving a lot of times in my experience.

      I totally agree with you. I only use it for EAA with a larger camera sensor and I use a flip mirror for planetary with a planetary camera.

      About 2-3.
