How to get to town from Warsaw Airport by train - featuring Line S2 and Pesa Elf 27WE

  • The Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport is served by frequent rail services operated by the SKM (Szybka Kolej Miejska, Fast City Rail) and KM (Koleje Mazowieckie, Masovian Railways). To reach the train station, turn right when you enter the Arrival Hall and follow the signs. It is a roughly 300m walk to the station which is located underground. Some ticket machines can be found along the way. I recommend using the red SKM machines because they sell tickets that can be used on virtually all forms of public transport within Warsaw.
    Warsaw public transport is very cheap! Since I was unsure of the length of my journey, I bought a 75 minute ticket, which is valid for 75 minutes following first use, for 4.40 złoty, worth just under £1, around €1, US$1.19 or HK$9.30. And given the length of my stay (4 days/3 nights), I could have bought a 72 hour ticket for 36 zł, worth around £7.43, €8.33, US$9.77 or HK$76.70.
    Warsaw Airport is served by 2 SKM lines, S2 and S3. I took the S2 train service operated by the SKM, served by a PESA ELF 27WE train. I sat down after validating my ticket by sticking it into one of the tiny yellow machines on the train. Afterwards, I stuck my action camera onto the window and recorded the entire 19 minute journey to Warsaw Ochota station, where I got off. I hope you enjoy the train footage!
    My hotel was conveniently located right next to the station, so I was able to quickly check in, drop my stuff off and enjoy my first evening in Warsaw.

      Between Warszawa Ochota and Warszawa Powiśle stations trains go underground like metro so there is nothing interesting to see out there (the platforms of the Central Railway Station are located underground too). Really good view from the trains is between Warszawa Wschodnia (W. East) and the Vistula (Wisła) river only. Just before entering the bridge to Warsaw City you can see National Stadium (Stadion Narodowy). Warszawa Stadion is nearest station (ca. 400 meters) from the Stadium and local trains only stop there. Under the train station there is a metro line (M2).

    • @RockMetalElectronicPlaylists
      @RockMetalElectronicPlaylists 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Intercity trains tickets are bigger. More and more tickets are sold by Internet and smartphone apps so maybe in 10 years classic tickets (generally printed ones) will be in minority. You don't have to look for ticket machine oraz shops with tickets. Sometimes you travel at night or you are a foreigner and electronic ticket is just right for you. Some places which sell tickets don't have all of them (there are many kind of tickets, like weekend one, for groups of tourists, for a large families (2 adults and 3 kids). If you plan to stay longer best way is to have a Warsaw Urban Card (card that look like credit card with your picture on it). It's good for loading long term tickets (eg. 30/90 days). While paying and loading electronic ticket on this kind of card it's good to validate that ticket right after that by staff on Passenger Service Point or by ticket machine or just right after take on the vehicle. Sometimes we see people that are strangers not living in Warsaw and they have problems with tickets controllers (Reason: electronic ticket is not valid until validated by putting it close to the ticket validator, green light appears and some short sound come out and now you can continue your trip).

    • @dmnx
      @dmnx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Green trains belong to another carrier (KM), but they also accept a ticket from red machines (ztm / wtp) within the city of Warsaw, but outside the city you already have to buy their own tickets, so it's better to use red trains (SKM), because belong to WTP. With the red ticket, you can also use other vehicles belonging to the WTP, i.e. metro, buses and trams
