    Stunning intro! I love the beautiful shots in the nature. This backpack is definetly premium and very well suited for single-day hikes like you have mentioned. The net is a must for someone who sweats a lot at the back.

    Been going back and forth on dropping the money on this and I think you may have sold me on it. Reading about it on the website is one thing but your systematic description and demonstration of each feature was really useful and just what I needed, thanks!

    Recently found out about the updated 2023 version of this, which looks so much better. However I'm quite confused with the design of the chest strap buckle. How does that work, and does that fall off easily? Probably my only gripe about this pack; everything else looks great.

      @@basecampchris do you think that I could potentially use the manta 34 for longer day hikes as well? Like 2 day hikes

    I love this pack. I was using the 24 for a while, but it did not have enough room for my camera gear as well as all the other goodies I take on day hikes. I suppose this cold also be used as a lightweight minimalist overnight pack.

    • @basecampchris
      @basecampchris  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very light weight but with the right gear...yes, a minmalist could do it.

    Thx for the review, nice little hike there :)
    Question:
    1. Do you find that the magnet actually keep the hose in place when you are pushing through tree branches and bushes etc.
    2. What is the actutal size diff. all I could finde is 24L = 22 x 14 x 12 in (56 x 36 x 30 cm) and 34L =Dimensions: 22 x 14 x 14 in (56 x 36 x 36 cm). would it be only the width to differ?
    BTW. rain cover seems always to be green? Safety, trademark or something... perhaps - my aether had same color rain cover.

    • @basecampchris
      @basecampchris  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be pulled off in the brush ...but for the most part good strong magnet. Thanks for watching! "Keep Hiking!"

    You’ve reviewed both the Stratos 36 and Manta 34. Which do you prefer. Trying to decide between those 2 packs.

    • @basecampchris
      @basecampchris  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, The main difference is that the Manta 34 is a panel loader with no lower sleeping bag compartment and has the Airspeed back panel....the Stratos 36L/ slightly larger has the sleeping bag compartment and is a top loader...more capacity for a short over-nighter. ( Airspeed back panel as well )

    @YankeeTankerOutdoors 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great review.. I actually have the old Manta 36... which they got rid of that line.. real only difference is the second stuff pocket... I believe they got rid of it because the whole back almost flops open when you undo the straps..

    Hi! In your opinion, do you think can I use this backpack as my daily routine work backpack? I mean... I'm gonna use it to store and carry my 15" laptop and all the stuffs we use to carry.... mobile, wallet, keychain, phone charger, notebook, medicine etc...

    • @basecampchris
      @basecampchris  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Vladimir, I don't see why not...the 34 is a good size for that kind of thing. Jacket/ gloves too! etc...

    What happen with your Manta 24 Chris? How do you feel between the 24 vs 34?

    • @basecampchris
      @basecampchris  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Yudi, I still have the Manta 24 it's my go to pack ( I like the outside stretch mesh cargo pocket and the hidden zippered pocket behind that ...the 34 for me would work for snowshoeing and longer day hikes were I need more gear. I posted a video on Friday called Manta 24 VS Stratos 24! "Keep Hiking!"

      Late response.. but did you ever decide? I’m stuck between the 24 and 34 as well. Leaning towards the 34 for the extra space without much size difference according to specs.

    The hip belt looked like it was up around your waist. Is that just the way you wear it or does the pack not fit people with longer torsos well?

    • @basecampchris
      @basecampchris  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Frank, Part of it may of been that my shirt was not tucked it...looks higher up...also the pack has a decent amount of torso adjustment on the shoulder /harness back panel.
      From Ospreys site.

      Yes
      Fits Torso Length (in.)

    Will the ice axe loop also work for fishing poles? I do backcountry fishing and carry a couple collapsible poles.

    • @basecampchris
      @basecampchris  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a loop on the bottom and an elastic adjustable band at the top...I could see a fishing rod fit here with the handle slipped into the loop with the reel above that and top of the rod tied down with the top attachment band.

    I believe the plant was thimbleberry, not raspberry. Close relative, same genus. Thimbleberries are edible but not as sweet as raspberries. They are hard to cultivate so never took off as a marketable fruit, and the berries 'fall apart' shortly after picking. Common forest shrub Sierra Nevada to British Columbia.

    Does a real world review of a hydration pack, but uses separate water bottles instead. SMH. LOL

    • @basecampchris
      @basecampchris  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Mikael, I use the hydration pack for drinking while hiking and the bottles for measuring , pouring, cooking with water at night...( not practical to pour out of a hydration sleeve ) that's how I do it...thanks for watching. "Keep Hiking!"
