Finally, someone who really shows you how to put a song together in a really easy understandable way on Fantom...I love this demo....please do like this more more more.... Thank you
This is a beautiful synthesizer, it’s where synthesizers should be in 2019. I’ve always loved the workstation concept and I’m glad to see progress in that area. I could get lost for hours in this one! Great design/engineering Roland!
Wow i didnt know this was possible with this version of the Fantom. I got a Fantom G7 and haven't upgraded to it because ive always felt that the sequencer on it did a really good job. But this is nice! Thank you so much for showing this. I may pick one up soon after i get a chance to check out the sounds it has.
Got one on Friday. It is hard to describe how creative and immediate the sequencer is - yes, even if you usually use a DAW. It reminds me of Elektron gear, particularly in TR-REC mode, which, incidentally, can record notes polyphonically. It’s a lot of fun and very inspiring.
This might be what Im looking for ! I started making music with groove boxes and workstations in early 00s , then transitioned to DAWs . But I miss the all in one aspect of me and a instrument, just making music.
You prolly dont give a damn but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
Wow. These short explaining videos will be amazing to understand what this new Roland F A N T O M is all about. Looking forward for more videos like this if possible. Because I'm not a manual reading person. Thank you in advance Roland. Lot of kisses and hugs and good wishes for you and the Roland Team. So far loving the J U I P T E R - X, F a n t o m, JU-06A, MC - 707. And really looking forward for new version of MV8800 if it is in the making. Hope Roland will make that too.
Thank you very much!!!! Gracias por colocar subtítulos en español, eso nos ayuda mucho a quienes no hablamos bien el Inglés... Congratulations, excellent vídeo!!!! Saludos desde Riobamba-Ecuador!!!!
Please can you do another tutorial making a short but complete song with changing chords, drum fills etc. I have found structuring a proper song very challenging on the fantom.
I have Korg Krome and I seen Yamaha, but only Roland gets it how to be creative for music makers.. where others moving to the screens. Roland smartly keeps the buttons as it should!! 16 buttoned sequencer is moments from having a drum beat (I can't figure it out on Krome coz it's complicated with it's archaic screen touch) .. if I ever buy keys it would be Roland no doubt
Excellent! Thanks! One question... at 3:29 the drum and bass patterns in zones 7 & 8 have now appeared in group A when they were recorded in group B. Does that mean you copy/pasted them? I see that would make demoing the group play feature a lot easier but it just confused me a bit. Yes, I know it's a 3yo vid but wondered if someone out there can help :)
It's not clear for me the VA synth partial. What type of of waveforms are generated? Can we use 4 VA analog oscillators? How many VA oscillators are there in one partial? Is there a sort of FM? Can the new Fantom recreate the Jupiter XM sounds? In the memory are there all the sounds of Integra 7 or you sampled everything from scratch?
COOL,,,, Im going to buy on 2020. I sold my Kronos 2 88key and ready for something new. This is much easier to use then the Kronos 2 I can see from this demo.
Hi I would like to know if you could make an integration video between Studio One and Fantom 6. I'm trying to use in midi usb mode (vendor) but I can't record the midi signal or receive it. But I am successful in audio parallelism without problems
You can't do linear recording, it has strictly pattern group chaining sequencer. The longest pattern could be are 32 measures, so for a typical song, 64 measures in length, you will need to chain at least 2 pattern groups, 32 measures each. For some reason there is no official information about polyphony of this keyboard, but it appears to me is 256 voices. But only for PCM sounds and it probably will go down if you use V-piano and Zen sounds together.
This is what I want to know because this pattern and sectioned recording is complicated. Learning that I can't do linear recording on the Fantom has given me an even greater respect for my Casio WK-7600
Great demonstration , made it looks so easy . Can somebody here help . I am trying to record vocals and acoustic guitar through line/mic in but doesn't seem possible. Is this so? Thanks
Clips are all very well, but how do you record "vivaldi" or "classical" style music longer than 64 bars, where the notes change constantly. This sequencer is not linear, so it is IMPOSSIBLE to play certain types of music? The FANTOM is limited to pop music? This is the only thing holding me back for a purchase
The idea is to clearly free yourself from the computer. A classical composition is linear on almost all of its instruments, not just the piano. You will have violins, brass, percussion etc etc, without choruses or verses. So you will never or almost never reuse a pattern/blocks from the beginning) Yes, midi editing is important to me, I don't play well enough to do without it. But maybe it's me who didn't understand fantom or modx and their non-linear sequencers? But how to make classical music in blocks of a few measures? If I start recording, the fantom will give me a succession of blocks of 64 measures, or should I subdivide my composition myself? I definitely don't understand the idea of this limitation. FA 06/7/8 was linear, and it was so simple.
Update 1.15 seems to be a good addition. Why there are no videos around that explaining the content of the update!!!! Roland, you need to be more interactive with your customers and give more importance to the after sales service. I hope other Supernatural sounds will come along
Songs made on workstations (from any of the major manufacturers korg, roland yamaha...) Sound so "keyboardi".yet say even roland's own cheap verselab groove box thingy can make a very acceptable pro/daw sounding song...why is that? Do these new groove boxes use a different technology than the workstations?
More like different design, same technology . You can make a song on your iPad but your song your laptop is better because of a better UI and easy to use setup. The Fantom is meant around layering and sequencing and sampling. MV-1 is based differently, more sequencing and easy workflow, not for editing sounds.
No. Fantom was built to work in integration with DAWs, so you need to keep your audio tracks in your DAW and mix with Fantom sounds. Some people say they believe Roland will update this keyboard to accommodate audio samples to use in sequencer. Personally I don't believe, Roland didn't this with FA series and I don't see it happening with Fantom.
It can have 16*8=128 patterns per song. You probably asked about pattern length which could be no longer than 32 measures? Well, hope Roland will update this keyboard.
Quick question, I owned a G8 and loved it because it allowed me to put entire song ideas down quickly. Like the G, this has audio inputs, can I create an audio track within a sequence in order to bring in vocals or acoustic guitar or something via the audio inputs? I want to be able to record an outline of an entire song with vocals and everything else within the keyboard itself like I used to with the G. Also, why didn’t you guys include a regular sequencer in this unit, instead of a step sequencer? I understand that it can be quicker in certain situations, but there are also other situations like what I’m talking about where you would want to use a normal sequencer. I don’t understand why you guys would take a step back in that direction when the G8 was a damn near perfect solution. I just bought this keyboard a few days ago it’s on its way here and I’m terrified I made a huge mistake and that I’m not going to have the same functionality that I had in the older model. Specifically with recording audio into a sequence easily. So please ease myMind, because I have not been able to find one video talking about it.
can anyone explain to me how to save my work ? I want to be Able to save what I am working on and come back later , save all my works ... the only save I can get on patterns is with usb and when I try to load it wants me to load each track individually HELP !
An incredible keyboard/workstation... I'm just digging in right now, but I'll be "lost" in this thing for a long time... my apologies to my wife lol...
I bought this keyboard for sequencing because I hate computers. I just found out that the machine has only 2 time signature 3/4 and 4/4. Are you kidding me? Is that a joke? Paying almost $4,000 this is ridiculous.... I hope you guys come up with a fix pretty soon....
A pretty machine but I am totally unimpressed. Yamaha's MODX/Montage has the Wheel that modulates between any parameter you dream so Roland has nothing new for us. Also - The sounds and scenes sounds like almost any new workstation in the last 8-15 years.
MMM. That music so, so generic and repetitive that has been used for decades to present keyboards. All the same. Zero creativity. And you can not miss the typical and boring touch of keys from bass to treble to "impress" (Who?). More generic is not available.
They should let this guy do all the demos from now on instead of Ed Diaz. I like Ed for other things, but his sequencer demos are horrible. He just hits record presses random notes. Nobody expects a hit song, but he never even tries to do something that sounds coherent or pleasant. It's just random noise with him.
I can't recommend this sequencer, after having it for two years. There is NO way to use it as a linear sequencer.... you make that beat he did, and you cannot solo over it for the whole song. There is no way to do things like film scoring, which makes it mostly useless for me.
Finally, someone who really shows you how to put a song together in a really easy understandable way on Fantom...I love this demo....please do like this more more more.... Thank you
That Part!
Feels like Roland is back in business with the latest set of products for 2019-2020
The best introducing video about Roland Fantom sequencer section for beginners! Thanks!
My favorite part besides the sounds is it seems actually easy to use! 😎 That’s important.
This is a beautiful synthesizer, it’s where synthesizers should be in 2019. I’ve always loved the workstation concept and I’m glad to see progress in that area. I could get lost for hours in this one! Great design/engineering Roland!
That's ableton inside an amazing keyboard!

Mark's the best demonstrator out there!
Perfect explanation. Remember me the old Song sequencing style from my loved old Ensoniq's Workstations. Thank you.
That‘s the sequencer i‘m always thinking of...can‘t wait to try it...
Dayummm, that simplified pattern creation and mixing is nice!
This is a perfect Roland Demo song!!!

Great demonstration an exelent playing!
Beautiful machine, look forward to buying one very soon
I wish to have display out to hdmi, that would be great
There is no tradicional 16 Midi and áudio tracks?
Very Cool Great Performer Thanks

Wow, come a long way since I had the Fantom X6, really nice machine.
Can you add an audio track - such as vocals via the mic in - and have it be part of the sequence / song?
Looks great! Is this the same type of sequencing of the Roland MC 707 ?
I like my Fantom-X sequencer
Nice tutorial, but, I have a question: Is It possible to record the rhythm pattern into sequencer? Intro, Verse, Fill and Ending? Thanks
Excellent!
So, at the beginning of the video he talked about “real time” recording, which he never demonstrated. Can the Fantom to real time recording or not?
It's not clear for me the VA synth partial. What type of of waveforms are generated? Can we use 4 VA analog oscillators? How many VA oscillators are there in one partial? Is there a sort of FM? Nice. But how do you sequence the drum pads in? I’m hitting them but they aren’t being recorded.
Dream come true, BUT!! How/can you keep the metronome in headphones only??
Ok Mark... Now FINISH THAT TRACK!
It is possible to do the same as the video but with wav files ? Thanks
Hi, how's it going? Question, does he keyboard has a dedicated button to pause the songs? I only see a record, play, and stop buttons. Thank you!
Can you sample and loop a voice or instrument with the fantom’s mic input?
Hi
I would like to know if you could make an integration video between Studio One and Fantom 6.
I'm trying to use in midi usb mode (vendor) but I can't record the midi signal or receive it.

Love the video. However, could you please make a video for customizing your own sounds?
Can you do linear recording over an entire song or is it all just chaining patterns together? Also what is the polyphony?
That's what i want to know! It kinda seems like a spin off of the fantom g series which was a phrase based sequencer.
You can't do linear recording, it has strictly pattern group chaining sequencer. The longest pattern could be are 32 measures, so for a typical song, 64 measures in length, you will need to chain at least 2 pattern groups, 32 measures each.

what is the lenght limit for roland fantom? im mean lenght of measure
What if I'm playing live and the touch screen does not pick up on my finger, can you trigger from the pads?
Hi, How can i playback the song that I had created on Fantom (which had already been saved on to the USB device) in the keyboard itself? Please help
Does he got a vocoder or the possiility to use a mic to record voice :D?
Great demonstration , made it looks so easy .
Can somebody here help . I am trying to record vocals and acoustic guitar through line/mic in but doesn't seem possible.
Is this so? Thanks
At 3:30, suddenly, pattern A appeared in tracks 7 & 8 ... what happened?
@rolandus. We are waiting for the fantom to be compatible with ableton live 10.
Can you trigger sequenced patterns with the pads?

What are the Wurlitzer Electric pianos like on the Fantom.

How did you group the high hats with the rest of the drums?
How much does it cost?

can you save songs in internal hard drive and then later get it to usb stick? for later use a s back play use? How many songs can you save?

What keyboard does the 88 version have i currently have the Yamaha CP88 i just play Piano mainly.
I kept waiting for the Real Time demo. :-(
So would this actually be a good replacement for the pattern mode and rps of the old fantoms?
Hello! Nice video! Just one question: Is it possible to import an audio track into the sequencer?
No. Fantom was built to work in integration with DAWs, so you need to keep your audio tracks in your DAW and mix with Fantom sounds.
