Want to thank you for this video! I have some water leaking from my impeller and couldn’t figure out what was going on. Thinking I have a bad seal now, just ordered parts. Hoping this will keep me out of the shop for a little while. Appreciate you putting the part number also, made it very easy to find the rebuild kit online. Thanks again!
Great video. I will be rebuilding mine every other year. Only comment is that I believe you put the seal on backwards. From my knowledge, the cup side showing the spring should face the impeller and not the bearing...but I am certainly no expert. Thoughts?
Awesome and very detailed and great instructions. Thank you. Where did you get your rebuild kit from ? Hope you posts more videos on the Volvo Penta’s.
The rebuild kit can be purchased here: www.automotiveauthorityllc.com/products/volvo-penta-sea-water-pump-repair-kit-21214595-21214596-21214599-21214601
So if I have water dripping out of mine, would it probably be that O-ring or maybe the smaller seal that goes around the shaft? I just recently bought a boat with the Volvo 3.0 and at idle I didn't notice anything leaking. However, when I revved it up to around 1500 rpm's, I started seeing water leaking from this pump. I'm hoping a simple rebuild will take care of it. Thanks
Nice video how did it work on the boat im afraid to heat and cool up stuff that seals water. I dont have a torch would putting it in really hot water for min or 2 work the same ?
My pump has plastic tubes leading into the impeller housing with o-rings. Does anyone know where to find the o-rings. I’ve searched and can’t find them.
Make sure you spin the impeller the proper direction and make sure they're all pointing the same way (back). I believe it was in the right direction but one of the fins was pointing backwards when you installed it. Overall great video. Thank you for your knowledge.
@@dustdevilmedia Not the case for me when I replaced the water pump on my outboard. Had the fins going the wrong direction and they stayed that way until it forced water past the seal into the lower unit. I noticed water in the oil and disassembled the lower unit to find the flaps still pointing forward. I later heard not to rotate the engine backwards dry because of this same reason. Maybe just a fluke for me.
My engine is a 2008 5.7 GI-J and uses the taller Impeller. Do you have a Kit for that application, or can I use this Kit and just get the proper Impeller separately?

Nice detailed video. Helping my pops fix his boat. Thanks..!!

I think I have a bad seal now as well. Can you tell me where you ordered your parts from?
Well done. Best video I've seen on the subject.
Great video! I needed to see how to complete this repair myself. You showed me the easy way. Thanks
Sehr gutes Video, DANKE Hansi

Directions say the spring side of the seal goes towards the impeller... i believe you assembled it incorectly...
Nice , thanx.
Great video!

If it's leaking then the inner seal is bad and the entire pump needs a rebuild.

Just wondering I have the same one but the shaft pulls out of the pulley. Is that normal?
After 13:10. Does the pulley spin freely or is it hard ?

When you spun it by hand does it spin great or just a few turns you stop it with the one i took off it with make 2 turns only with the old one
Where did you get that puller from?? Need to rebuild it ASAP and I can’t find a puller.

That is unecessary, the fins go the right direction once they begin to move.

I have the same engine and water pump. Did you find a kit for yours?
