We took this old Chinese Lifan ATV that was rusting away and someone’s backyard, chopped it in half and turned it into a slidy drift go kart. #diygokart
I suggested this to some of my friends, and they all told me "thats stupid. Why not just ride the quad?" im glad im not the only one who thinks it would be cool
Yeah even if it's the same weight and power it would be a completely different driving experience, especially with a different seating position, CoG, CoM, and wheel base.
Thats what i thought cuz that just looks like 2 or 3 hours of fun transforming it to a gocart quad and 20 mins of fun driving it untill bordome of low speed
@@Nesu. Yes of course! In North America when you buy a set of wrenches they usually include both imperial and metric wrenches in the kit. However, most of the metric wrenches dont fit onto imperial nuts and bolts. Which is why we use them for other purposes, like welding them onto stuff for example.

This is so well edited. You got the whole story in under a minute with just enough technical details and emotion to make me feel like I understood what you were doing and how much fun it was. Subbed. I'll definitely watch a long form build video of this.
Nice! I grew up with quads and go-karts. I always thought about how cool it would be to put the motor from my Honda 4trax onto my two seater manco go-kart. It would have been wicked fast for sure.
Already got the snowmobile, just trying to find suitable frame for UTV and chain driven 4x4 setup, but go carts are expensive here. Just saw burned down maveric side by side that could work since dropping from 1000cc to 350cc should be around ok for any fatigue metal got from fire. Great minds think alike
Usually the wheel track makes this pretty unstable, which has been the biggest thing preventing me from doing this. Looks like this works well though, I'm going to have to try it now!
Yea. As far as home made ATV type vehicles like go carts and mini/trail bikes go this thing is decent. Hell probably better than decent. Once upon a time I had a small single seat rigid frame roll cage go cart with a tiny ass 3.5hp Briggs and Stratton engine. I commenced to replace that With a self rebuilt Yamaha YZ80 engine. I simply fabbed up an adapter plate for easy mounting and drive sprocket alignment. Then removed the foot shifter and replaced it with a simple tube shaped and long enough to comfortably reach the riders left hand for actuation in the old one down four up pattern standard on all motorcycles today. Finally I removed the clutch lever and cable to it and also the kill switch all to be re installed and utilized on the go cart. These modifications tripled the speed and power. I had real fun on that thing. It was awesome.
The benefits of knowing how to weld, and (even at least) the basics of working on a motor is the best thing for every man. The joy of being able to build your own go-kart just because, must be the best feeling in the world. I love anything off-road related, mini street quads, and go-karts. Welding comes in key even for electric vehicles, and you can make some sick 20kw mini quads. I'm hoping to learn how to weld one day.
Very nice, good job guys!!! That thing reminds me of the dune buggy/ go cart I had back in the 80's, purchased from the old Western Auto... It had the motorcycle type handlebars rather than a steering wheel & dirt bike style spoke rim wheels in front with basically riding lawnmower type tires in the rear. It was a one seater with I believe was an 8hp Briggs and Stratton,....that thing hauled *ss!!!! I've always wanted to do basically the same thing like you guys, just make the frame slightly longer & wider... kinda take the wheel spacing from the General Lee &/or The Bandit & scale it down using the Yamaha Blaster or Banshee! You are welcome to build it if you so desire a!!! Keep building great custom everthings!!! Keep ROCKIN' Guys!!!
That's freaking awesome. I would love to have a ride like that. I wanted to build one before I got in my accident but now look to get one instead and now all hand controls for safety. Ahhh this lil video clip inspired my designer mind again. Yall stay blessed 🙌 great job 👏 The rear suspension was mint well done 👏
Pretty damn cool, I’ve often fantasized about building a go-kart with suspension and ATV tires with like a 600-750-1000 cc street bike engine and tranny, this looks a lot more feasible, at least it is a good base to start with and already has a drivetrain.
Way to take a simple idea and make sumpin' totally cool. They basically lowered & stretched the frame and moved engine to the rear. VERY COOL By lowering center of gravity and changing 4WD to RWD they got a drifting machine that will probably wheelie and do decent jumps

That's bad ass l! Awesome job guys turned out great and looks like a lot of fun!! Would've been cool if you had a speedometer... I like to know how fast it runs. It looks fast.
I just had flashbacks of the Honda Odyssey (obviously not the minivan, dumb they used same name). I always wanted one but this seems like an even better way to go especially since I believe the largest stock engine in the honda was a 350. Great job guys, she rips.
Saludos desde costa rica ... gracias por hacer algo que yo cada ves que veaia un cuadraciclo eso era lo que pensaba ...y ya ustedes lo hicieron ...y ya puedo ver como queda terminado 👍👍👍
🔴 Full build video will be live by the end of the day 🔧
i want one
How much I'm n a wheelchair dis would be good for me
Can I get one built for a big guy like myself?!? Please, would be a blessing if possible
Definitely ❤ keeping the bars.. I'd rather have more leverage than a steering wheel..
Even if it was bars vs power steering I'd rather have the bars
Why !? This is low end garbage! ..
I suggested this to some of my friends, and they all told me "thats stupid. Why not just ride the quad?" im glad im not the only one who thinks it would be cool

Sounds like some great friends
if you build it, they will come
Hey that's a good idea. I was debating on selling my Chinese Quad. Once I saw this, I knew what needed to be done. Thanks for the idea👍
Same 😂
Have a welder, some parts and a dream
I hope you make the idea reality, good luck.👍🏾
Man I just did a bunch of work to my bike and look back and think I should've recorded it for other gearheads. If yall do a build, you should post it!
Yo! I had the same pfp as you a year ago
Time for a GSXR-600 swap🫡🫡🫡
and a les schwab credit account at that point haha. ive seen em with that 600 and they look like death trap burnout machines

A Yamaha 700c.c. 2 stroke snowmobile engine
7.3L Power Stroke

Mad grind hard plumbing co vibes out of this and im all for it

Hahaha, they even have Idaho plates hanging.
Ingenious, specially the wrenches!
You know 9mm wrenches is what they used... 3/8"th is 9.5mm so yeah.... bye bye

It's a cool idea, but I would definitely add a roll bar just in case you flip it accidently. Safety is always #1.
This.
The longer wheel base makes that thing so driftable. I love it.
I’ve been dreaming of doing this exact build with a bigger quad for years
I'll just buy one cause I don't have a shop but I do own a 150cc cool little go cart, looks like a mini doonbuggy
The giddy giggle gets me every time bro , its just that exitment that is hard to explain
Should make a roll cage for it🔥💪🏽

This was a good build but not a new concept Honda made these back in the 80s it was called the Odyssey it was what I would consider as the first UTV
If you make the cross supports on the bottom diagonal or even triangular it would strengthen your frame a lot.
Nicely done fellas! 👏 😁
This is something new. I feel it should be called a quad kart. Like off road go-karting should be a thing.
Heck I put plates on that thing and at the gas station every week, yeah I'm putting 5 pump ⛽ 2...
