Love the channel and subscribed! My shower gets a 12" false ceiling. This area gets my exhaust fan ducting and I route it horizontally until it's away from the shower, route it downhill and out the sidewall. All ducting and fan on the conditioned warm inside area of the home. No offline condensation, no offline cold backdrafting into the shower. I run 6" ducting, maybe reduce to 4" as it goes outside. I get a larger fan, say 110 cfm, it's very quiet and moves lots of air. Normal construction practices are quick, cheap, and sloppy, and cold, and lint likes to stick to these practices
Wow, that’s so disappointing how uncaring and uneducated the majority of the workers putting together our homes are these days. And what a crime our codes allow and encourage this behavior! Sad for the unknowing folks who will be living there.😢
So true. I blame the builder in these cases. The ultimate quality of the home is enforced (or not) by the builder. If more builders understood, cared, and insisted on the quality of simple things like bath fans and their ducting, our buildings would perform much better!
@@AddisonHomesit really is a shame how long they route bath fans. Cheap 50 cfm fans should have short runs to help it move air as efficiently as possible without problems. My house has fans that duct out through the roof as it’s the shortest run.
Exactly! Bring a townhome - Routing through the front or rear sidewalk would have been the answer! AND- a decent bath fan with at least a 4” diameter duct.

Thanks for subscribing! Glad you’re enjoying the content. Sounds like a great approach to bath ventilation!

Terrible! Couldn't they have just routed it out to the side?
