Great teaching and I learnt something new. My grandson who is 11 years old and I have these conversations a lot through the years about how he, we should emulate Avraham's kindness to those around us. Sometimes that means not having our way and taking the easy road. But ensuring that we are hospitable and thinking of how we can help people obtain kindness through our actions so that they may experience G-d. It took me years to understand this so I am explaining Avraham the best way I can to all my grandchildren so they will know their call of duty, with peace.

Love listening to your teachings, Rabbi...I pray your broken finger is healing well...
Avraham exhibited grace and kindness in standing in "the gap", interceding for mankind...
Reminds me of Moses' plea to the Almighty.
The Almighty looked (and still does) for a man to stand in "the gap"...

Abraham was told about a destruction, he prayed - Noah was given a huge task to do and did answer all that asked him what he was doing that Hashem was going to bring a flood. Secondly, Noah either had Emunah that Hashem would ultimately have compassion and not bring the flood, or he didn't believe in himself that his prayers would matter

It is permitted only in Prayer, and here for educational purposes; therefore is not pronounced in vain.

Why was name changed. What does the “H” represent?

    • @mdevorah6833
      @mdevorah6833 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

"Adding H" is saying "god is with the person". So Abram to Abraham and sari to Sarah

The letter ה is the fifth letter - numerical value is 5 = grace, chesed (חסד).
According to the Jewish mystics ה represents the Divine Breath, revelation and light.
The Sacred Name has two instances of ה.
It is a picture of the Presence of G_D within the human heart.
The letter ה at the end of a noun "feminises" it and allows it to be "fruitful" and "reproductive". 🤗

So by adding this letter to Abram’s name, G-d added Himself as Abba Father to Abraham’s nature, character, and destiny.

I am also intensely involved with this broad topic. What are the stumbling blocks for me in the Bible? I also have the scene with Abraham. Abraham is asked by God to kill his son Isaac. This is either the call to murder, or something else is hidden in it. An angel appears in the sky, preventing Abraham. But that can not be possible if God is omnipotent. An angel can not have more power than an almighty god. That's why I interpret this scene differently. It's an exam for Abraham. It is checked how far his character is developed. Does he kill on command? Whoever kills on orders also commits murder - and it means: Thou shalt not kill! Since the angel can prevent this bloodbath, he must be commissioned by God - he does it in agreement with Almighty God. Or God himself was the angel.

      Andreas Helberg,
The angel is called a “Malach” which in Hebrew means a Messenger, to DO HaShem’s Will.
He can use whomsoever HE Chooses, He’s HaShem and we’re NOT.
      Isaiah 45:6-7
      6 so they may know,
from the rising to the setting of the sun,
that there is no one besides Me.
I am Adonai-there is no other.
7 I form light and create darkness.
I make shalom and create calamity.
I, Adonai, do all these things.
Go to JEWS for Judaism’s web site and you’ll learn the truth, in depth 🙏

Noach gets a bad rap, he lived what 7 generations - if Olam Chesed Yibaneh, then Noach had a beleif in HAshems kindness that would ultimately prevail

How can he say that God regret, was not that blasphemy in Judaism? How is it possible that a perfect God who knows everything before it happens and creates everything with wisdom can regret !

    • @tokasaab2879
      @tokasaab2879 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paula Wallace
I know the verse is there, but I was shocked that he had no problem with it and did not even give an explanation of how the great God would regret He also grieves Astaghviroullah
Feelings of regret and sorrow happen to us humans because we are doing actions we do not know its consequences, but the creator of the heavens and the earth knows what will happen even before humans are created.

      Toka saab,
It’s because He has given us freedom of Choice, and He is sad that His children haven’t chosen wisely 🤦‍♀️ 😭
IF you have children you’ll understand this concept.
READ the entire TaNaKh (Hebrew Scripture, and follow along the weekly Parasha, and you’ll get a better understanding. Furthermore, we repeat the cycle annually, so that we get a deeper and better understanding, each time. No different than going to School and STUDYING the subject matter, intensely, IF we want to DO well‼️
      Deuteronomy 30:11-20
11 “For this mitzvah that I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it far off. 12 It is not in the heavens, that you should say, ‘Who will go up for us to the heavens and get it for us, and have us hear it so we may do it?’ 13 Nor is it across the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross over for us to the other side of the sea and get it for us, and have us hear it so we may do it?’ 14 No, the word is very near to you-in your mouth and in your heart, to do it.
15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, and death and evil. 16 What I am commanding you today is to love Adonai your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His mitzvot, statutes and ordinances. THEN you will live and multiply, and Adonai your God will bless you in the land you are going in to possess. 17 But if your heart turns away and you do not listen, but are drawn away and bow down to other gods and worship them,
18 I tell you today that you will certainly perish! You will not prolong your days on the land, where you are about to cross over the Jordan to go in to possess.
19 “I call the heavens and the earth to witness about you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, CHOOSE life so that you and your descendants may live, 20 by loving Adonai your God, listening to His voice, and clinging to Him. For He is your life and the length of your days, that you may dwell on the land that Adonai swore to your fathers-to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob-to give them.

The difference is that when I give my children the choice, I don't know how they will behave But when God gave us the choice, he knew what would happen before it happened and there was no room for remorse

      Toka saab,
Regardless, He will never take away that freedom from us, which was given right from the beginning, in Gan EDEN.
Now it’s up to this generation to make the Tikkun HaKlali, the Remedy for the condition.
That’s how it works, He knows the end (outcome) from the beginning, and who is Mere Mortal to argue with the Creator of all flesh⁉️
      Gut Shabbos, and keep studying.
Also, you may go to the website of JEWS for Judaism ✡️ and you’ll be able to go deeper.
You can email Rabbi Skobac, on that site, for individual answers.

Thank you for your advice but I know that the LORD does not regret After all, this is a different religion, but I thought our concept of God was similar to Judaism
