    Can't say I remember the song of kylie's, but I loved ghost train.
    I always looked forward to this, top banana and going live.

      Yeah, not one of Kylie's biggest hits. I absolutely love this era of Saturday morning shows - great little time capsules of the popular culture of the time.

      @@VideotapeFTW ditto. Can't get enough of the 80s n 90s pop culture these exude.
      I'd say I miss it, but I don't. I still live it.😂👍

      Live TV, eh? Absolute cringe-inducing moment. I wonder what happened - it looks like someone missed their cue, or maybe technical difficulties...

    Was fortunate enough to visit the Ghost Train when my dad was a guest on the penultimate episode (Final episode on tour, as the actual last episode was in a studio). Was awesome but I was struck by how lo-fi everything was on there. Just painted panels of wood.

      Interesting! Everything always looks so shiny and fancy on screen, but in reality you could get away with anything in the days of SD television. Dare I ask why your dad was a guest on the show?

    • @guksack
      @guksack ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@VideotapeFTW Yeah certainly in the SD days! I think that's why TV sets aren't as interesting now, as they can only get away with so much. His name was Terry Brain and he created the show Trap Door, which was shown during Ghost Train

      @@guksack Oh, amazing! I think you've mentioned your dad animating idents I've uploaded before, but never Trap Door. I loved that! I've got the DVD and everything. :-)

    Is this captured from vhs? If so what kit did you use?

    • @VideotapeFTW
      @VideotapeFTW  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's from VHS. These days I capture through one of these things: www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/products/data_usblive2.html

    • @themistermillson
      @themistermillson ปีที่แล้ว

      @VideotapeFTW are you using the composit cables. If so how are you finding the output? I recently bought an elgato video capture. The saturated reds and blues suffered from extreme banding and flickering, which are not present on the original vhs.

    • @VideotapeFTW
      @VideotapeFTW  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@themistermillson Are you going through a DVD recorder? That's generally seen as the cheapest way to improve the picture and stabilise the signal. I've got a few bits of kit that I sometimes use and sometimes don't, but my current preferred path is VHS (Sharp VCMH704) -> composite cable -> DVD recorder (Panasonic DMR-ES15) -> S-video cable -> Hauppauge USB-Live2.

    • @themistermillson
      @themistermillson ปีที่แล้ว

      @VideotapeFTW so you are using the Dvd as a time base corrector? I guess this sorts out the bad decoding from the composit?

    • @VideotapeFTW
      @VideotapeFTW  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@themistermillson Yes, that's right - some (but not all) DVD recorders have half-decent TBCs built in, and although they're not particular powerful compared to a professional standalone TBC, they offer a good bang-for-your-buck improvement.
      All that said, I'm not sure your colours should be going that crazy on you, even without the DVD recorder in the chain. I should have mentioned that I capture losslessly in AmaRecTV before editing and encoding separately. What are you using? Is it the Elgato's own capturing programme? It may have some 'enhancements' enabled by default that are oversaturating the picture. Are you able to upload a sample capture?
