This might be the best version of this tune I've herd so far. HH's solo was one of the greatest I've heard him play on a funk tune, Dejohnette and Alias are superb and Scofield and Brecker are rising to the occasion.

Somewhat noisy and definitely not to dance to . I will stick to Tower of Power day or night than this. These guys haven't been dancing in a long time and it shows...
WTF are you talking about??? Obviously, genius-level music is above your pay grade. 😂
At the end of the day, this is still Jazz above all else, and Jazz after Bird and Company was never again 'Dance Music' - not mostly or particularly anyway - but actually first and fore most 'listening music'. Funk on the other hand always was and will be 'dance music'. 'Funky' is an adjective that can be applied to some types of Jazz as well - like this one. Tower Of Power is not a Jazz band, but a Funk band, they play 'Funk Music' , that is what they do. Frankly , I think you came here w/ unrealistic expectations.
