  • Tried to make a quick video about one of my sheds. It has a lot of solar experiments in it and other stuff. You might enjoy this quick look inside. I am working on some other videos for the next few weeks.

DDSolar, I'm in Casablanca in Morocco (North Africa) working converting a riding mower to electric with LFP battery pack using 2 wheelchair drives for motion as zeroturn and still strugling to find cutting bldc motor to turn 71 cm blade. Can you please write me the brand and model of the one used on your Ryobi zeroturn riding mower?

Hello sir, greetings from US to Morocco. Sounds like a great project. Unfortunately I don't have exact specs for the motors other than they are 3 phase brushless motors and apparently common in multiple brands of mower equipment. 71cm is about 28 inches, the blades on the ZT480 series are 21 inches each. The motors are part # 997026001 (deck motor) and this mower has 2 of them. Searching this part # on the internet will give you a few links to check out. The blades are directly driven, no belt. I suspect this motor "might" drive a 71cm blade if you don't push too hard. You need 2500-3500rpm for a mower. Please check this link, I suspect it's a similar motor, but might be underpowered for a 71cm blade. I hope this is this information is helpful in your project. www.bibus.es/fileadmin/product_data/hydro-gear/documents/Hydro-Gear_SMARTEC_Deck_Drawing.pdf

Here is another link that might interest you, I am not sure it's the same motor but it is actually a "deck" motor: www.hydro-gear.com/product/d3e/

Hey I have the same mower and was looking into going LiFePo4 when the original batteries go bad soon. Was there anything you had to change on the mower when you switched to LiFePo4 or did they just work? I know the battery meter won't work anymore and the charger will need to be one that works with LiFePo4 batteries. Were there any other electronics that needed to be changed? What batteries did you use? Cool stuff!

Hi there, I literally ran the PB batteries 15 minutes twice and gave up. Very little run time, I was not happy. Ending the second season with this mower and I love it. 16S LifePo4 works like a champ. They are run of the mill 48v packs from online auction site. I installed a battery meter, plan to add more stuff later, will make a video. I recommend at least 60AH capacity. Mower pulls 16-18A sitting still with blades energized. Once it hits grass it drinks the battery pretty fast. No electronics change beyond what you mentioned, unless you want to tinker. The charger included is very powerful and I do use it to charge the pack, but am very careful to monitor the voltage. Kind of risky. Have charged it off solar too, works great. I hope to do some upgrades by next season or over the winter. Maybe you can record a video when you switch over. Thanks have a good day

Thanks for the shed tour - looks like a well thought out space. Just curious what's the brand & model of the 12/24V PWM charge controller which you said you really like (shown at 4:20)?

Welcome, I'm thankful for the views hehe. I had to go out and look at the label on top. That is an HP2430 - PWM solar charge controller, hard to find any more. You can search eby with this number 125650670677 They are kind of overpriced now unfortunately.
