Drum Major David Rae leads the massed bands on the march after the 2019 Tomintoul Highland Games

- Drum Major Ian Esson hands over to Drum Major David Rae to lead the combined pipe bands back through Tomintoul in Moray Scotland. This was at the conclusion of the 2019 Tomintoul Highland Games. David Rae is with Ellon & District RBL Pipe Band, and after many years of being involved in these Games, this was his last visit as a Drum Major, hence the honour of leading Drum Major for the march. When they halt, he is presented with a bottle of Whisky by the Games Chieftain Jim Fraser.
The pipe bands taking part are Huntly & District Pipe Band and Ballater & District Pipe Band, playing the tune "Cock o' the North" on the march back from the Games into Tomintoul. The other Drum Majors are Derek Dean, Ian Esson, Ronnie Rennie and Bert Summers.

i traveled to Scotland last may. lt was the most memorable trip in my life because that was the first time l traveled to foreign contries and the first time I got to ride an airplane. Scotland was really beautiful.The streets were clean,and the scenery was beautiful.I really love it there...

Just wonderful, lovely... I am Venezuelan and i feel so proud when i listen to the Scots Pipes & Drums... I was in Aberdeen in 1992 and i was blessed to see, feel and be present while the Gordon Highlanders were marching in Union Street.... Once a Gordon, aye a Gordon... Bydand!!

As an American, I will say this: We kicked out the British monarchy and we weren't all that nice about it and we certainly didn't ask their permission. Indeed not but maybe your desire for independence is greater than it was in 18th century America. Oppression is oppression no matter time or geography. You can choose to live with it or dispose of it.
I don't mean this to be critical. My ancestors left Scotland because life there was not tenable for them. That was their choice and I am here in this place because of it. So I can't tell you what is right or wrong or what even is to be done.
But I'm grateful for your insight. I won't be looking at marching pipers with the same eyes anymore. And I wish you and all Scots a brighter day.
