if you look at anubis 1 sprites you can see that he has an ankh. when you kill him, get to duat and meet anubis 2, he doesn't have the ankh anymore

Duat is a really cool location but sadly it is just a better idea to go to tide pool unless you want a ton more challenge and a jetpack

Jetpacks are a very good item but not only risking your run and also using your extra life it's just a bit too much especially for a regular one that can easily blow up. My solution would be make Anubis's jetpack a unique item with different properties I would simply recommend making it act like the jetpack from Spelunky one it doesn't blow up and doesn't interact with fire damage.( Keep in mind in order to even get this jet pack you have to sacrifice your extra life, not die before you even reach him, and actually kill him and Osiris) even then it wouldn't even be that obvious a jetpack that is been bomb is great but in my opinion at least is actually a fair side grade to an extra life.

I sometimes go Duat route if i have the chalice. The ability to heal from killing and then being able to double all healing with the purple flask is very nice. Then you can get a guaranteed jetpack which is one of the best items in the game. Although health isnt much of a difference in a game where a lot of things one shot you or stun lock you to death soooo i really only take the route if i have sticky bombs for the fight in Duat and a chalice with ideally jump boots and vlads cape. Sunken city is just easier all around, espically with multi-player. Then you can role the casino dice for securing health later in the run. It all depends on what i get at the beginning of the game and if I'm playing alone or not
