That's the goal for a lot of people, but there is always one more pen to complete the collection 🙂 What did you buy after the 30 year purchasing hiatus?
I don't have any firm criteria for buying, but I am picky now. If I buy a new pen, it has to be something that looks really good to me, especially if it is $100+. I'm okay buying inexpensive pens just to try them too. I will not buy any pen that is a clear knock off of a different brand's design (for example, imitation Pilot Vanishing Points). As an engineer, I don't want to support companies that do not pay for their own R&D and just reverse engineer someone else's work. In the end, it cuts into the original brand's ability to create new innovative pens
I'm a bit of an impulsive collector and have bought around 25 pens in the last 3 months when I first got interested in fountain pens. I already had a Lamy Safari andAl star, and then got some Chinese knock-offs thinking it would be nice to have some Montblanc, Pelican and Pilot clones. These cost me about A$40 each. Then I splurged on a Parker 51, a Pilot Vanishing Point, a Kaweco Sport Al Piston, a Magna Carta 600, a Montegrappa Symphony, and a Pelican M400... and now need to take a break from impulsive pen purchases. I do enjoy the 'name' brand pens but the jury is still out as to (for example) if the Pilot VP is 10 times better than the Majohn A1 /shrug
god and I thought I was impulsive lol, though I have bought around that equivalent. Maybe like a few grail pens over the month . Though ive only been in this hobby since around april - may
I bought a Montblanc 149 as my first fountain pen then didn’t buy another fountain pen for 30 years😂

@@putteringpenman I was gifted a Waterman fountain pen and pencil set. The pencil is my favorite instrument.
I WISH I HAD YOUR DISCIPLINE 😂😂
Would you mind sharing the information regarding the Kokuyo paper that you mentioned. Thanks!
It's called Kokuyo KB paper. I get it in the A4 size. www.amazon.com/Kokuyo-Paper-Thickness-Bright-Certified/dp/B0006L0120
Many thanks! Looking forward to future videos.
Thank you for this. Are there pens you avoid collecting, and what are your criteria for buying a pen?

I have to ask. Pilot Custom 823 vs Pelikan m800?
Actually, I'm just about to release that video! Stay tuned in 2-3 weeks.
@@putteringpenman Can't wait!
Great. Love my Vintage M800 with two chicks. Would love to learn more about Pilot 823, which I have heard many good things about.
