Well Charice was just so young when she did this video/version of the song but if you will try to listen with some other renditions she did with the same song, you will surely blown away by her style esp on how she holds the notes perfectly. This version of Charice's is definitely by no means her best. She's performed this song sooooo many times, so she was just changing things up here. It was just stylistic here, don't worry! Look through some other I Will Always Love You performances of hers, especially those from when she was a little bit younger :) M-Angel, you'll find a version you like! I actually agree to both of them. Ailee's rendition is softer, they arrange the song in a new way to make it sound more pleasing to hear. While with charice they took the classic approach. But the amount of emotion charice gave to the song was just overwhelming and it really translate to her voice. Very soulful and powerful. With Ailee's performance the background music is memorable, but with Charice' what's memorable is her big soulful voice.

Personally I prefer another performance of this song by Charice, from a David Foster concert when she was younger. Also, in terms of interpretation, it doesn't have to be 1 on 1 with the original to be good. I hope you react to some of her other versions, because this is kinda of an unfair comparison. Charmaine Charice sang this back in 2011 in Japan w/ no audience & a recorded minus one.. Ailee sang hers back in 2014 in Korea w/ an audience & live music accompaniment. Even if they both sang it really well, this is not a fair comparison because of the difference of set-up. btw, the Charice's 'bonet' is an indication that this is the same year that she did GLEE.
when I watched their reaction of Ailee's IWALY I know for sure it should be Charice's version that they should see so I tried to find Charice's version where she sang the whole song... The only one I got of good quality is the one they watched. Sadly no audience and live band. Most of her versions was a combination of IWALY & I have nothing and they can't use that to compare with Ailee's :(

Yeah I just gave them the link to that. That was Charice's 1st big concert performance in the US (I'm not counting the Oprah & Ellen tv appearances) & i was so amazed at how confident she was. I watched that whole concert, where she shared the stage w/ the biggest stars, and if I'm not mistaken, I think she was the only one that received a standing ovation. Hope they will react to that one.

she's more in control of her voice (I think) than the other singer... and i am a fan of Charice so I'll pick her. xD
and the "trying hard" part, that was her feeling the song. and the "styles" thats not really bothering for me. I love all the high Notes, her gestures and her "soft" notes which Ailee cant even do as perfect as how she did it here, you can just feel that she is so into the song she nailed it.
the bridge, so on point, just wow. and the head voice? soulful than the other thing. Just perfect for me. stop bashing our artists, its ridiculous.

Charice for me is the most Amazing powerful voice Good quality of voice can sing a high note song I love the way she sing.
This version of Charice's is definitely by no means her best. She's performed this song sooooo many times, so she was just changing things up here. It was just stylistic here, don't worry! Look through some other I Will Always Love You performances of hers, especially those from when she was a little bit younger :)

I actually agree to both of them. Ailee's rendition is softer, they arrange the song in a new way to make it sound more pleasing to hear. While with charice they took the classic approach. But the amount of emotion charice gave to the song was just overwhelming and it really translate to her voice. Very soulful and powerful. With Ailee's performance the background music is memorable, but with Charice' what's memorable is her big soulful voice.

You have to consider Charice sang this song SO MANY times, so you can't really judge it so simply, plus as you mentioned, she always adds so much emotion to it that you FEEL the song. Personally I prefer another performance of this song by Charice, from a David Foster concert when she was younger. Also, in terms of interpretation, it doesn't have to be 1 on 1 with the original to be good. I hope you react to some of her other versions, because this is kinda of an unfair comparison. A singer is not always at their best in all of their performances.

Charmaine Charice sang this back in 2011 in Japan w/ no audience & a recorded minus one.. Ailee sang hers back in 2014 in Korea w/ an audience & live music accompaniment. Even if they both sang it really well, this is not a fair comparison because of the difference of set-up. btw, the Charice's 'bonet' is an indication that this is the same year that she did GLEE.

when I watched their reaction of Ailee's IWALY I know for sure it should be Charice's version that they should see so I tried to find Charice's version where she sang the whole song... The only one I got of good quality is the one they watched. Sadly no audience and live band. Most of her versions was a combination of IWALY & I have nothing and they can't use that to compare with Ailee's :(

Yeah I just gave them the link to that. That was Charice's 1st big concert performance in the US (I'm not counting the Oprah & Ellen tv appearances) & i was so amazed at how confident she was. I watched that whole concert, where she shared the stage w/ the biggest stars, and if I'm not mistaken, I think she was the only one that received a standing ovation. Hope they will react to that one.
