Man it took too long for the dad to find his balls and actually stand up for OP. Keeping the peace isn't always the best solution.

That's crazy to me - you're afraid to be alone, yet you forgot you had a daughter to take care of, and when you did find someone else, you decided to sacrifice your child just so you can have someone in bed. I don't care if this sounds insensitive. This guy knew EXACTLY what he was doing. He didn't even deny it or say OP was "making things up." He knew what Sarah and Lily were acting. He just wanted to "keep the peace".

@@newvision4l314 I mean, it took me about 15 years to realize that my ex was a psychopathic child molester, so. 🤷♀️ When you're in that position, you tend to ignore or excuse a lot of their behaviors - i.e., "He's so stressed out", "Maybe I'm not being empathetic enough", "Maybe I'm just not understanding properly", "He had a bad childhood", etc. I kept making excuses for him until I couldn't anymore.

I know why the father already stood up for her. It's because many years has passed, the sweetest days of his marriage are all gone after their scapegoat has left home. He was tired of that life. That spoilt princess's mum Sarah is just as bad, you can tell that she was one of those kids growing up who haven't been told "no" or were never corrected over their own misbehaviours so when OP's dad stood up to Sarah, probably for the first time of her life, it really hit a huge nerve and that's why she spat her dummy out

Story 1 Dad's efforts are way too late.He let you be abused and neglected your entire life. Big deal he is making an effort now. I would not want anything to do with him. He failed you when you were a child and finally grew balls when as an adult you stood up for yourself. I think you should be very low contact with him. He showed his true colors for 25 years and if let you down for 25 years I doubt he will really change much. A spineless man, it was so disgusting when he admitted he knew what Lilly was doing but did nothing. You cant trust his "love". I dont think it is sincere at all. As a guy who was cheated on and lost his wife and best friend. I spent a lot of time in the Marijuana while living with family for a year while I healed. If I didn't have my family with me I could easily see myself in this father. When your world falls down, you'll do anything not to have that happen again.

You know what’s REALLY peaceful? When the two most annoying people in your life kick themselves out of your wedding. What the dad did throughout that marriage was absolutely wrong but, part of me can understand his feelings. Losing the person you thought was going to be your life partner must’ve been devastating for him, and I can understand him not wanting to feel that again. What I don’t understand is, he has half of his wife in his daughter and had he treated her right through that gawd awful marriage, he never would’ve been alone. And with the way that woman was so gawd awful, I’d would’ve rather been alone.
