I watched this over 2 years ago after a search, and to this day its still the only video relevant to this vacuum! Still appreciate it though, it helped my purchase decision for when i finally got mine! For those considering this Hoover, please take note of a few things: - It’s old now. I can’t even find an original pdf manual or support page for it online. - Don’t assume its robustness! It looks like a shop vac but treat it like a living room queen! The main structure can take a beating but the fiddly bits like clips and the switch need a considered touch. Cleanliness is godliness! Clean the filter bag and empty the tub regularly. Its also a good idea to keep a few spare bags on hand if you can find em. Between the washing and filtering, they will wear out. - Don’t tug! The power cable seems to be a known weak point. Avoid pulling on it too hard. - Don’t blow your lid! The real business end of this thing is the lid, and its surprisingly easy to misalign it even when its clipped in. This breaks the seal and can lead to a not fun time. Remember the power cable should face away from the hose, and the lid should be level on the tub. - Get the lay of the land! Prep the space you are about to clean beforehand. The motor can get toasty if you run it long enough, so minimise run time by clearing the path. - It still sucks! It’s not as refined as the Dyson I’m used to, but it still sucks where it counts. If the price is right, if it suits your needs and you know you can take care of it, you shouldn’t have cause for pause.
You mentioned a dust bag - but I didn't see one when you opened the cleaner. So I assume it's a filter - if so where is filter positioned /attached to - and how easy is it to clean / get replacements etc. One last thing how strong are the clips that hold the lid on - also any feedback now that you've had it for a year? Thanks for video!
Hi i have the same one.Its blowing out dust but it is clean i see there is a filter on the top where you can insert the pipe to blow out air how do i clean that? Can that be the probelm?
@@digitallocations1423 I've read in multiple places that they've changed the design over the years. I won't be surprised if the '08 is more robust than the latest

I own vacuum shop, Have to say this is one of the worst designed vacuum cleaners on our market, absolute shame that some how they managed to stick a Hoover badge on it. The clips that hold the top on snap easily, we get aleast 2 in a week with the on off button pushed through into the top because the space to fit it in is to big and they couldn't be bothered to rectify the mold to sort it out, The worst part about it is the filtration, The filter bag ring ( that the filter bag clips over has 3 openings in it so the dirt just slips right through, To prevent dust from coming out the blower opening the fit a small 50mmX50mm piece of sponge inside which prevents the blower from actually blowing and manages to keep the dust at bay for about 6 months before it clogs badly and dust starts coming out the side of the machine, Every time we get these in they are always covered in dust.. The actual bag is made up of two l;ayers of what should be a micro fibre type of cloth that prevents dust from getting through, It isnt and so the dust gets between the two layers were you cant clean it and clogs The only decent thing about it is the motor . Seriously dont buy this vacuum, if you really want one come see me you can pic up one of the +-10 we throw into the dumpster out back every week.
Hoover HWD20 Wet & Dry 1800W Vacuum cleaner is the worst ever on the market. I agree with Gareth Sheen. It`s for outdoor use. Don`t use in your house. Too much dust on start up and the vacuum cannot be kept clean on the outside when in use. Perfect when new.
Really wish I had found this before I bought mine. Previous vac was an Aquamaster and ran perfectly for 40 years plus. Based on that amazing performance, when my commutator finally went I grabbed this piece of junk thinking I could trust that Hoover badge. First use right out the box the body is covered in dust. Lifted up the top and notice there is no seal ring. Is this right? As a result the blower section on top is at half pressure as so much air is just escaping and is basically ejecting freshly vacuumed dust right back on the floor as you work. Hoover should really just recall this POC. It is not worth a quarter of what they charge for it. As for power, my Aquamaster was better than this even at 40 years old.
Howzit, what is it like cleaning it? I'm not keen to go through the effort of buying one and having to clean a bag every week... Also is the bag re-usable? Your input would be greatly appreciated... shot
The bag is not a bag, but a filter that need not be cleaned every time yo dump the bucket out. If you pickup tonnes of fine dust and pet hair, then it will be best to pinch it off of the filter with your fingers every week.
I suffer from epilepsy and your jiggeldy all over the place video is not good for me. I had to stop watching by 30 secs. Please consider that some people cannot handle that amount of movement when viewing videos. Thank you.
Never buy this hoover machine if you live in a dusty area bought one the biggest mistake ever it blowed the whole house full of dust while i vacuum the carpets very very dissatisfied with this Hoover and i grew up with Hoover.
Ditto. The Aquamaster mentioned above I used to ride on as a kid while my mum cleaned. I inherited it and 40 years later it was still great... until sadly, it wasn't. This new wet / dry is beyond awful.
Argh I wish I had done more research and read this particular comment before purchasing this vacuum cleaner. It arrived today and I used it for the first time and within minutes it was blowing dust out of the blower outlet and out along the latch openings. I tried cleaning it and reattaching everything back firmer but the same thing happened. So disappointing
This vac is so powerful and simple and it won't die! I use it as a shop vac collecting sawdust and it just keeps running. I am risking burning it out because it is popular and affordable so i can find a replacement on gumtree for the workshop...but I have never had to! The downside? Noisy as hell.
Sandra Boome I do and it won't die. I thought I'd let it die and buy a new one but it just keeps going. I also made a simple two bucket dust collector (search that) which collects more than the vacuum can hold but more importantly, reduces strain on the vacuum.
WHAT WOULD SLIM DO? Awesome stuff. Thank so much. Was also wanting to create a dust collector ... But in the meantime....my home vacuum is taking strain in the workshop. Lol
I am most dissapointed in my Hoover...I am 70 and struggled my head off to pick up little particles..like flies and ordinary little soft goodies from my carpets...even on the tiles!!!!!!!!! I am disgusted!!!! I want to open this vacuum cleaner to take a look if there is not n filter that maybe need to be cleaned...I tried to find a video on how to accomplish it...but could not find any. I am petrified...Just now I break it. I made sure that there is no debris blocking the pipes. Okay...you should get my problem...I still out in the dark...how to. I would strongly advised people NOT TO BUY THIS HOOVER!!! The SUCTION POWER IS TERRABLE....THAT IS MY EXPERIANCE !!!!! I AM SORRY.TO GIVE THIS COMMENT...BUT I AM JYST SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW....completely negative...please pardon me for being so outspoken. Kind regards. Me
@@racheswart6878 There is a filter inside which needs to be cleaned. If this is left unattended for a while, the suction power will decrease as a result of being blocked by dust. These filters are prone to tear as well. You can buy new filters in a twin pack from Takealot or Game.
I have bought 3 of these for my yacht, they all packed up, the last one worked and when I switched it on again it was dead, checked switch and it's not that. the motor is fried, kak product

It's a pretty robust model. Bought mine (exact same model) way back in 2008 and it's still as strong as day one.

Best is to buy more filters and pull them over each other when fitting them in the machine. Two to three drastically improve filtration.
These are not machines with high filtration. If you need higher filtration the best would be a vacuum with a HEPA filter.

Wet and dry and you don't test wet🙄
Why you did show wet??
You're supposed to remove the dust bag from the motor when using the blowing function - cute cat btw - don't terrorize him like that with the vacuum!
So let's unbox this sucker :D
